Rather disappointed with the game, for many reason but most importantly-

1. The leveling. After 20 theres no doubt about it quests become rare and the XP is lacking even from the ones you run into. Grinding isn't necessarily my thing. Though someone can argue that grinding mobs is no different than grinding quests but straight grinding is monotonous.

2. Crafting and gathering. The game almost makes me feel like I need to level these two, and when it came down to it I had 200 Iron Ore that took nearly 30 minutes (Or more) to smelt into bars. There's an issue there. I've also heard of people spending over four hours just doing work orders to level their craft. This doesn't settle well with me. The drop rate on required fluxes is unsettling as well. I've had to drop over 100k Kinah on Fluxes just for a shot at making a blue item, just a shot...

3. Bag room/space. Very lacking and you're expected to pay mass amounts of Kinah to expand your cube. My bags are always full because of the gathering materials/gems I'm always picking up while leveling.

4. Certain mechanics. In my opinion some abilities need to be taken off the GCD. Like a Gladiator's Crippling Cut for example. Sprint causes my character to fly across the screen occasionally (Well, more than that) when used. Ranger's Stunning shot deals 200-400 damage but I've have it crit over 1k. There was another post about this I believe. Random numbers are random and don't make sense.

5. Queues. I'm not into waiting 2 hours or more to get into the game. I'm not sure why they opened with so few servers, especially with the game being out for a while in Asia.

6. Channels in the 1-10 and 11-20 zones but none for the zones above that? It's hard enough to muster the intention of grinding, but when I do I have to worry about large masses of people all over doing the same.

7. Gold spam. This is out of hand. And I need to log onto their main site to place in a ticket! This is ridiculous. I can block all the spammers I want but it seems like theres an army of them.

8. Lag. Constant disconnections are happening left and right for many players. Once again, with the game being out for some time you would imagine they have a pretty hefty revenue to make the game smooth and solid, but apparently not. The other night the server randomly came down without word as well, which will also lead me to my next point

9. Communication. When the server went down we received no word at all on the status of our server for 4 hours. When word finally came out, it was a Twitter update. This is very- VERY poor communication with customers. Forums were packed with threads and no one knew what was going on at all because after a certain point we couldn't even see the server lists. Another issue is there are no updates on the launch client. Nothing at all. When servers are down for maintenance.. I wouldn't know. It would just tell me I couldn't connect to the servers and kick me off the game. This causes a lot of confusion. Lastly, petitions need to be carried out through their website- wtf? I begin to wonder if they even have any game masters at all.

10. As mentioned earlier. No in-game support.

11. Chat. The opacity and font cannot be changed which is a bother for me as I find the text to be far too large and even with my chat filtered I find it difficult to keep up with legion/party/whisper chats. The lack of a command list irks me as well.

12. Triggered emotes- these are just annoying...

13. Oh screw it, you get the point. I won't be returning until serious changes are made.

Few points off the bat:

  • Everything in the game costs money and I see that as a good thing. Money is extremely important in the game, even though it's relatively easy to come by. Especially on the cube issue, it's really worth it.
  • I think I read that the ranger stunning shot is indeed a bug, and it's the only "random" number I can think of. You say it as if every skill has 'random' numbers.
  • You had to expect the massive amount of people leveling in the same area as you as it's barely been a week since the game's launch. People purchasing the game should seriously stop complaining about the amount of people in their zone. If you want to get rid of it, wait a couple of weeks for it to settle.
  • The chat font CAN be changed, there's large, normal, and small font If I remember correctly. I'm positive there are more than 1 font available as I can't stand big text either.
  • Since the newest update characters have to be level 5 and above to be able to whisper, just a short term fix for gold spammers but they're on the right track.

Most of your other points are opinions (grinding, crafting, triggered emotes? lol) or different experience than mine (lag, communication which isn't perfect but I'm getting enough info thanks to the official site, aionsource and twitters).

They're doing their best concerning queues (adding servers, limiting shop timers etc.) so in a couple of weeks it's bound to get much better.

I agree with everything here and more. Boring gameplay, linear as hell, KSing, no pvp till 25, could fall asleep fighting(click a skill, then another, oh look a combo skill, over and over), terrible kid like sounds, nothing new in the least. Before i got to any of these gripes, I couldn t get past the boredom.

I agree with many people here. I am a level 35 ranger now and the game is just, well boring, and I feel like the only reason to play is the leveling grind, which is'nt exactly a motivation.

Same reason I've put the game down.  I took a break beginning on Monday and I haven't logged in since then, and I haven't really had the desire to either.

1.sure are not many quests... if you are at the wrong place and looking. I am lvl 26, still plenty of quests to go.

2. blue items are kick***, so what to expect? The standard to wear is green. So how hard are those to make? I see them everywhere on the broker :P

3. simply learn to manage your inventory. it does not cost much to upgrade first steps. dont pick up stuff that has no value. i too - picked up everything at first. then you learn what has value and what not. for example, manastones are useless for selling unless they are crit.

4. thats true. they need to adress this so we know they care/listen

5. yes, but right now I dont see much of it anymore... least not on my server. maby cus i log in early

6. no chat channels for post 20?

7. havent seen any spam but i know it exists on some servers. and its no excuse if they dont fix that fast.

8. thats mostly bull** to be honest. on the LAG part all i can say is that ive almost never ever had it. disconnects? sure, a few. but lag? no way.

9. yes that sucks badly. they just rip the carpet from underneath us. feels like theres a goverment handling the game for all we know?

Is it best to group to level, or do it solo?

Group when questing, solo when grinding.

The guy was talking about the channels (not chat) that are created when enough people are in an area so that everyone is not fighting over resources.  This works well in the beginning of the game, but once you get to Morheim there are no multiple channels and many, many people trying to kill the same mob.  Many people  that were playing on 10 different channels on opening day are now all dumped into one zone.

I don't mind grinding, but when there are no mobs to grind because hundreds of people are grinding the same mobs, then it is not fun.  I realize that this crowding is temporary.

There is another non-pvp zone where you can level, so no big game breaker.

Don't start with technicality's, Rifts don't count as PvP they count as portals to be ganked at. The real PvP of the game starts at 25.

Rifts are ridiculously fun in my opinion and a well-organized group can terrorize through a rift for quite some time regardless of numbers.  It's guerrilla warfare at its greatest, so yes, PvP does indeed start at 20 if you want it to.

Objectiveness is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.

Just going to add my 2cents:

There is some grinding in this game. I had to grind a haf level here and there because of lack of quests. For instance I grinded from 19.5 to 20. From 22 to 23. From what my guidlies tell me the 30's are horrible grinding.

Crafting does suck. Its not easy like WoW and its not interesting like Vanguard. It's boring as hell and takes forever to level up and make something. Regarding quality items, I don't mind that it takes a little xtra or there's a chance of failure for making them, especially if there the best items in game.

I have no prob with bag space. Once its full sell that shit. Easy.

I've had one 3hr Que so far, and it was nighttime. But then again I hardly play at that time.

Gold spam is a problem but its a solvable problem as demonstrated by other games. Give it time.

I've only had lag in the major city, but Shift f12 helps that.

I agree communication is a problem, especially when a server crashes for a few hours. Twitter is not a suitable form of communication from a company to its consumers.

As someone else said the chat is customizable.

There are some class imba's that still need to be adressed. My concern is will the balacing be done with an eye towards pvp or pve? That question remains to be seen.

All in all the game is good (8.0), not great. I'll continue playing it because of friends but if what I hear is true in the 30's then I'll have to take a hiatus from it. Same thing happened in the 50's-60's for AoC and I left that game too. Can't stand grinding for no purpose.

This was my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

ok, lets not start with technicality, lets start with truth.

Since L20 (23 now) I have had 18 fights, 2/3 of them 1 vs 1. No ganking and seemingly pretty equal levels.

I have never camped a rift.

I have used rifts to go into Mord (asmo), never finding them camped, and PvPed through their zone. You might call it ganking, but there really isnt any excuse for the asmos to be caught off guard after my first attack. It's for them to then get organised.

I started earning my abyss points at 20, and by 22 I had already made a PvP rank.

PvP DOES start at 20.

Yes, levelling slows after 20.

This game will not suit the kiddie instant gratification mentality that is killing modern MMORPGs.

I have Levelled so far 100% on quests, I have never had to grind to make a level.

2. Crafting and gathering. The game almost makes me feel like I need to level these two, and when it came down to it I had 200 Iron Ore that took nearly 30 minutes (Or more) to smelt into bars. You dont have to do any of the gather quests, you can just ignore them or buy the harvests for the hand in.

If you gather, it's by choice.

You don't have to craft, you can use you adventure money to buy what you need.

If you craft, it's by choice.

3. Bag room/space. Very lacking and you're expected to pay mass amounts of Kinah to expand your cube. My bags are always full because of the gathering materials/gems I'm always picking up while leveling.

Yes, I agree. I would like a bigger bag.

When I have levelled up and earnt the money, I will have one.

I don't know about this and have never experienced it myself.

5. Queues. I'm not into waiting 2 hours or more to get into the game. I'm not sure why they opened with so few servers, especially with the game being out for a while in Asia.

I re rolled on a fresh server put in to eleviate queues.

I have not had a single queue since.

6. Channels in the 1-10 and 11-20 zones but none for the zones above that? It's hard enough to muster the intention of grinding, but when I do I have to worry about large masses of people all over doing the same.

I have not had a probelm with this either, but then I have changed to a non maximum populated server and we don't have the same issues.

7. Gold spam. This is out of hand. And I need to log onto their main site to place in a ticket! This is ridiculous. I can block all the spammers I want but it seems like theres an army of them.

Agreed, this needs nailing.

On the upside, i noticed today that the gold seller activety was far less.

8. Lag. Constant disconnections are happening left and right for many players. Once again, with the game being out for some time you would imagine they have a pretty hefty revenue to make the game smooth and solid, but apparently not. The other night the server randomly came down without word as well, which will also lead me to my next point

I don't know. I havent DCed more then a couple of times, which to me is acceptable in a mmorpg, and I havent read any outraged chat talking about it in game.

It dosent seem to be an issue for the vast majority.

I get lag now and again, but nothing game breaking for me.

9. Communication. When the server went down we received no word at all on the status of our server for 4 hours. When word finally came out, it was a Twitter update.

I would prefer them to post on the boards, but twitter is free to access and easy to read.

I don't get the drama.

This is very- VERY poor communication with customers.

 Why?

The information was there and accessable if you look at twitter. This is a lot more then 90% of other mmorpg devs seem to manage.

Forums were packed with threads and no one knew what was going on at all because after a certain point we couldn't even see the server lists.

because they didnt look and prefered to just whinge?

Another issue is there are no updates on the launch client. Nothing at all. When servers are down for maintenance.. I wouldn't know. It would just tell me I couldn't connect to the servers and kick me off the game. This causes a lot of confusion. Lastly, petitions need to be carried out through their website- wtf? I begin to wonder if they even have any game masters at all.

I agree this could happen and would make life better.

10. As mentioned earlier. No in-game support.

Agreed.

There needs to be active and visible GMs in every mmorpg, and Aion needs this as well.

11. Chat. The opacity and font cannot be changed which is a bother for me as I find the text to be far too large and even with my chat filtered I find it difficult to keep up with legion/party/whisper chats. The lack of a command list irks me as well.

This is just nit picking now...

Out of the box I cans ee why it seems bad, but I changed the colours of my fonts, seperated some tabs out and adjusted my filters, and now I am fine.

12. Triggered emotes- these are just annoying...

Just a personal taste issue.

13. Oh screw it, you get the point. I won't be returning until serious changes are made.

ok, thanks for you views.

I wish you luck in finding a perfect mmo :)

If you can't find quests after 20, you either don't know where to look, or you're just not doing the quests you have.  There are multiple level 20-ish quests in Verteron still, and Eltnen has quests from 20-30+. Theobomos also has numerous quests for the 20's.  Obviously once you get to 25 you can go into the abyss of which every 2 levels you pretty much get a whole new line of quests to start.  Don't forget to do all your campaign quests, because sometimes you need to do a campaign quest in order to open up a future campaign quest. Not to mention these give a LOT of experience.

2. Crafting and gathering. The game almost makes me feel like I need to level these two, and when it came down to it I had 200 Iron Ore that took nearly 30 minutes (Or more) to smelt into bars. Or maybe you should have friends and/or Legionaries that can give you fluxes and such... I've had NO problem what-so-ever with crafting, gathering, and fluxes.  Sure, I had to take a couple hours to get my gathering from 1-..somewhere in the mid-200's, but what other game has you level it up a lot faster than that?  My Legion members give me all the armor fluxes they receive, and I give them Weapon and Accessory fluxes.  Don't forget you gain a bit of exp as you're collecting and crafting, as well.  It may not be MUCH, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

3. Bag room/space. Very lacking and you're expected to pay mass amounts of Kinah to expand your cube. My bags are always full because of the gathering materials/gems I'm always picking up while leveling.

There's a quest that gives you 9 free bag slots... so if it gets "too" expensive for you, you can do that quest.

Not sure about sprint, but I haven't heard my assassin friend complain about it.  But in terms of the lottery damage: What, you're sad that you can't 4-shot people?

5. Queues. I'm not into waiting 2 hours or more to get into the game. I'm not sure why they opened with so few servers, especially with the game being out for a while in Asia.

I never have problems with queues... I either go to log in about 30 min before I want to actually play, or I play later on.  Queues have REALLY gone down and they have opened more servers.  Not to mention, queues mean that the server is almost constantly full, which is incredibly important to the play-style of the game.

6. Channels in the 1-10 and 11-20 zones but none for the zones above that? It's hard enough to muster the intention of grinding, but when I do I have to worry about large masses of people all over doing the same.

Only problem there is with this is in The Abyss. Solution? Go elsewhere.  If you're still in your 20's, you can do the latter quests in Eltnen or do quests in Theobomos (of which Theobomos has 2 channels, btw).

7. Gold spam. This is out of hand. And I need to log onto their main site to place in a ticket! This is ridiculous. I can block all the spammers I want but it seems like theres an army of them.

This, I agree with.

8. Lag. Constant disconnections are happening left and right for many players. Once again, with the game being out for some time you would imagine they have a pretty hefty revenue to make the game smooth and solid, but apparently not. The other night the server randomly came down without word as well, which will also lead me to my next point

I've only been disconnected twice since I played the game (including headstart). Maybe it's your ISP? Heck, I'm on COMCAST.

Again, this I agree with. NCSoft is lacking here.

10. As mentioned earlier. No in-game support.

But they sent me a survey! /endsarcasm

11. Chat. The opacity and font cannot be changed which is a bother for me as I find the text to be far too large and even with my chat filtered I find it difficult to keep up with legion/party/whisper chats. The lack of a command list irks me as well.

You're leaving for this?  You can change the text size, you can change the font colors, and you can create new tabs and unlock the tabs.

12. Triggered emotes- these are just annoying...

I just think they need to fix the ones that go off when you don't want them to.

13. Oh screw it, you get the point. I won't be returning until serious changes are made.

I doubt you'll be coming back, then...

Boring gameplay, linear as hell, KSing, no pvp till 25, could fall asleep fighting(click a skill, then another, oh look a combo skill, over and over), terrible kid like sounds, nothing new in the least. Before i got to any of these gripes, I couldn t get past the boredom.

pvp starts at 20.

Lol, ok technically it does, but the real game pvp doesn t. I honestly wouldn t care if it started at lvl 1. It is the most boring gameplay I have played in a few years. It saddens me for the MMO genre that people flock to this game like it s the best thing around. To each their own of course but I can say I don t like it and theres nothing wrong with that. If you and many more like it good for you is all I can say.

Seriously? You have your expections way to high bud... I love Aion because its not like other MMOs. I'm tired sick of grinding quest..afer quest...after quest. Having to grind a level to me simply means I get a chance to group with some folks in my legion without having to worry about whos on what quest...I love it.

Aion does aton of things right and if you cant see that I feel sorry for you. You won't find a better MMO for awhile. I have no interest in TOR or star trek so I plan on sticking around for along time. The longer it takes me to get to 50 the better!! It'll make 50 as that much sweeter :-) I tried sick of easy, mindless MMOs that require no brains whatsoever to get to max.

If you don't like Aion cancel your sub. It'll free up room for other people and we wont have to listen to you whining and complaining ingame.

Good luck where ever you end up!!

2. blue items are kick***, so what to expect?

Excuse me but are you sure your even playing the same game as me? No spam!??!? Please , for the love of god please tell me what server you are playing on so I can move ALL my characters there!!! The gold spammers are worse in this game than I could ever imagine in all my worst nightmares?? NO SPAM??? That is the one single thing that is driving me insane. People say that blocking it helps but for me it only blocks the tells and now they have started spamming the general chat channels and everyone on my block list is still clear as day on the chat channels. I can't even read or write text as the chat is continuosly scrolling nothing but Spam! I can't take it anymore!  Aarrgghh.

I am not playing the game beyond the current month either. It's nothing special. You'll be flamed by some for writing this, but I think you are just one of the many who will realise the limitations of Aion as an MMORPG and look to other games.
