"In the game one thing we're looking at is player mobility. Not only getting from place to place but we also have the old map travel from GW1 and the ability to jump, run, swim and dive under water." - jeff Grubb (I think?) from THIS
He mentions nothing about mounts but highlights being able to use the map travel and using the portals. However, with all their improvements on mobility there's maybe... maybe a little hope. Or I'm delusional and just want a mount. XD
On another note, how would mounts work if there are still henchmen/heroes? They will either get left in the dust, automatically mount up when you do, or have to be purchased mounts from your pocket. Otherwise you can't really use them when you're dashing off on a horse/creature.

But why have Map travle in the game if your going to have Warp Portals? Thats why I dont believe traveling will work out this time around like it did in the last game |

According to the movement of the world article, the asura have been pretty busy repairing their gate network over the last 250 years and have apparently built gates in just about every area of the world, I wouldn't be surprised if every outpost in the game has them. Map travel as it exists in GW wouldn't be quite as feasible in a persistant world, some kind of changes are inevitable. |

With an open world one would think mounts would be a necessity however I believe they are keeping a form of map travel but only to locations you have already visited as in GW1. However the addition of mounts if not just for the fun of it would be cool, but they are not talking about Game Mechanics until early next year and the trailer shows char running and leaping about so we can't be sure until next year. I however would enjoy some form of mount...race specific maybe? no motorcycles please... |

I think they will. That was widely touted as one of the best things GW1 had. You did not need to run around everywhere. In some MMOs, travelling is a chore. I think there will be no mounts, but that travel will not be a problem because there will be a "fast travel" system.
Please support games that deliver a new and innovative experience. Eve, Ryzom, Ultima Online, Fallen Earth, Asheron's Call, Darkfall, Wurm and, other similar games deliver immersive Worlds, not Maps with mini-games or killing with no story. Even if you do not like the games themselves, support and appreciate the effort of developers to try something new. |

You forgot a "Who the FAQ cares" option....otherwise I would've voted "This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to. Relax....." |

Fast travel in GW, while convenient, wasn't quite as easy as it's being made out by most people. Don't forget that while it's easy to leave an instance for any point in the map, you'll be losing any progress you made, and have to redo the whole thing. Even though it's easy, it's still a tactical choice, you can lose alot of time porting out. I expect large cities and such to be connected through Asura gates, with a WoW style binding stone or something that will allow players in the wider world to port to any major cities in the asura network with them. Does that mean it'll be possible to port to tiny hamlets in the game world? Really out of the way places like Fishermen's Haven in GW1 that the Asura probably wouldn't bother to place a gate in if you paid them? Chances are it'll be a hike to get to. Don't forget that while the devs were discussing the event system (The Centaur Assaulting a village scenario,) they specifically said that players from surrounding towns would need to descend on the area to defend it from the assault, implying that not all habitable places can simply be ported to. |

Big Bang happened. and life happened. then you trolls somehow got here? |
im sure they said somewhere about map traveling still in the game |

Hoppers and crawlers Hoppers cover large area with huge jumps. They can also jump over bariers that normal player without them cannot. So you may go to the same area all over again when you get a hopper. Crawlers can get you to hidden dung. that cannot be accesible on foot. They can also dig under rivers/seas full of deadly wild life.

The only mount I want to see in-game is stuff like siege devourers in GW1, only usable in certain missions/dungeons/PvP arenas. Possibly with a unique skill bar linked to it. |

there will be mounts. they have already said it in an interwiev and showed it in concept arts. |

The bottom line is developers are CHEAP.They will not deliver us complete games, they are simply in it for the money,NOT the passion. If you sit around and wonder or hum and haw over what you want in a game, you will NOT get it.Sticking to the NCSOFT theme, look at what large numbers did to AION?They had the game revised from 1.0 >>.1.05,then they had NGUARD removed. You want something or a better game? you better get a lot of fanbois off their ass and speak out and demand answers or content in your game. The problem with fanbois? They are buying anything and everything that developer is buying ,they are the worst blemish on gaming ,because they are not helping the gamers get a better product ,they are helping the developers deliver cheap unfinished products.I consider unfinished FAR worse than polished, because polishing garbage or cheap game play does nothing to warrant me purchasing the game.Heck you can polish YAHTZEE 50x over,it does not mean i am buying it,IMO POLISH has been the most over used term in gaming right now. Do i consider mounts easy to implement? no i don't ,but i feel it IS an important enough issue in games that it "should" be there.I look again at AION,i know for a FACT that water zones are VERY easy to implement,so AION was definitely cheap on their end by not delivering it.No matter what Arena net does,i am quite sure it has to meet approval from NCSOFT,and they are a cheap ass developer,so don't hold your breathe expecting EXTRAS.Look at ALL their games, they don't even implement movers,my god that is horrible game development,it takes VERY little effort to do.They would rather make open door ways or npc's standing in front of buildings because it is MUCH cheaper and easier to do,again lack of care for the end product. IMO honest opinion,if Arena implemented mounts,it would probably be some form of item mall attachment, where you have to pay extra to get it,and or pay extra to colour it. |

I would like to see mounts added to the GW universe. After playing WoW (no flames plz) I've become acustomed to sadeling up riding across the world. It adds a bit more depth as well as a quick way to travle from A to B |

Originally posted by Wizardry Your absolutely right, fan boys should want a good quality game not just anything they throw out the door, NCSOFT screwed up AION so bad!! I have a friend who played Aion and he said it was the worst 30 month sub he payed for. The developers for NCSOFT are cheap and terrible. |

Maybe you should rant in the Aion forum. They are using the Asura gates for "map" travel. I haven't read anything about mounts. If there aren't mounts for faster traveling I'm sure they will make sure that traveling is easy and painless like in the first game, I'm not worried. |

they are keeping the map travel from GW, wiki it, if you unlock a city or outpost, click M and u see it's lil icon, click on it and ur teleported to it. comprende? |
