The PvP aspect of the game is based around group combat, if you want to solo you picked the wrong class.

Better solo PvP choices are Assassin, Ranger, or Spirit Master.  Gladiators really shine in group combat with their AoE damage and I believe they have the only non-magical based knockdown ability in the game.

Oh... and the classes don't show their full potential until level 45+ sooo... there you go.

Bioware did not make Knights of the old Republic 2.

Like he said, if you want to solo PVP you are using a bad class choice. This game is balanced around group vs. group PVP play, not 1v1. So it depends on what you like to do really. You could play by yourself and make a new class that's good at ganking, or you could play the game the way it's meant to be played and be happy with your gladiator in a group PVP setting.

There is a stigma for glad's at around lvl 25 called ankle snare (I think that's what it's called).  That should help ya with things runnning away.  'tho like someone else said, if you plan on solo pvp'ing you picked the wrong class.

Interesting post-the classes are all well balanced and while the game is played better in a group, I don't think there is any one class that can't solo the game. You just have to understand what your class can or can't do soloing to play the class well.

I'm presently playing a gladiator(having tried all the classes in betas) and enjoy it.

On my Glad I just get in and melee, usually focusing on whatever my team mates are, or a caster if I see one I can get to.

I never PvP solo if I can help it.

My glad is 29 and I'm having a blast solo in the Abyss...  I still don't have Ankle Snare because it's 950K in the AH.  The best tips I can give for a glad?

1) Flight Time:  You must manage your flight time!  This means gear with +flight time or +flight speed, and buying flight pots.  Why is this important?  Most of the classes you face will try to kite you (ranger, sorc, SM, cleric, chanter).  If you have flight time and they don't, they simply can't kite you and you should be able to beat them up.  In addition we can pot out of slows/roots and use sprint to close the distance.

2) Aerial combat:  This is a big part of the game and everyone is new at it.  My best suggestion is to enable showing opponent distance and use that to stay within range.  It's simply a skill that must be learned, and the curve is much more difficult for a melee than ranged class.

3) Pots: I mentioned it earlier, but you must use all available pots.... Heal pots, life pots, flight pots...

Hope this helps next time you try to beat up a clothy

It's a pvp game. Pick a class that you enjoy based on it's mechanics. Balance will never be constant. We could tell you that the Glad is the best class in PvP currently and by the time you get there it would be shit. Balance is constantly changing and adjusting. And for this game, not by massive amounts; balance is pretty much perfect from what I've heard of end-game from a pal in Asia who's been playing for four months now. Your gladiator will have the best of times and worst of times... there is no trash class in this game or class above all others. Jesus, just play a class you like. If you want to be the ultimate PvP'er, you can either A.) Pick a class and learn it or B.) Have a max level for every single class and ride with the flow of balance. A.) seems a lot more logical and in any case, even with any possible balance issues the game may face, they won't be massive enough to effect you if you truly succeed with the class.

Grow success off of the game style you enjoy and with practice and persistence while learning what your class is good at and isn't, not riding the balance train and never actually pvp'ing if all you are doing is leveling just for the balance to be fixed once you've grind to 50. Depend on your own ability, not the class itself.

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
