And I'm greatly enjoying going for a spin. :) I'll eventually get a horse though... more suitable for the character I am aiming for.

There are a series of quests/quest line to build a ATV from the ground up. The finished product is your ATV key. You use the ATV key to research how to build a motorcycle. He's warning you not to impulse use the ATV key you built otherwise you have to build another to do motorcycle research. Use the key you get for your free ATV.
