SW:TOR would like to thank every one for stress testing the beta aplication page. please check back in 4-6 weeks to sign up for the actual beta. the missing link in a chain of destruction. All spelling and typographical errors are based soely on the fact that i just dont care. If you must point out my lack of atention to detail, please do it with a smile. |

With my luck, I'll either get into both this beta and STO, or I'll get in neither. I'll bet on the latter. |

I'd guess any user flagged for certain violations might be excluded, but I doubt post count will matter much. |

I am just glad to say I called it.
I literally in the "release date anticipation thread" on the TOR forums said October for either release or beta (this thread was started in may) and if it was October for beta then a release in early Q2 10.
Here we are coming on October and the beta announcement hits.
Good to know I was not far off.

Surprised it's coming this early. Chances now that we can safely assume a summer launch with closed beta this early, unless they need to push it back (though, seeing as how slowly and safely they've been pumping out information, and a pretty evident idea that they're making consistent progression with the game and following their agenda, that seems unlikely). At first I assumed a Christmas release by next year. But with beta signups, and most likely actual beta starting in November or before the end of the year, a summer release is quite possibly in the picture. I'd imagine beta to last for several months and then a progression to open beta, and when june or july roll around we'll be seeing it in shelves. I highly doubt beta will last longer than seven months, as betas rarely do unless the game needs a push back (which, again, seems unlikely with current evidence... but is possible) or the company is solely dependent on beta testers over their own department for collecting data and testing (which, from Bioware, I'm sure they have plenty of their own paid testers to work out kinks on a higher and more knowledgeable level than the average volunteer tester). And to be honest, I'm not really thinking of signing up for beta either. While other MMOs may be a different story, this one is something I think I don't want to spoil. If anything, I'll pick a class that I feel I most likely won't ever play, like the sith warrior, and spoil the story for that one class while getting a feel for the game. That is, in the impossible event that I actually became a tester in a 0.01% chance of a hundred most likely.

I would like to see what the head count is for beta applications. You gotta figure that is just the tip of the iceberg of the player base that will be playing this game. Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, Eve Online Playing: Wii Wanting to Play: SWTOR....Real Bad! |

This is completely off topic but, Douhk every time I see your sig I watch it for at least 10 minutes. Best. Sig. Ever. "...these forums are like soap operas"-Nihce |

CB probably won't start until Nov at the earliest. Even if things go great, 6 month CB is not uncommon, plus another month or intermittent OBs...still not going to be early Q2. Any significant problems with CB could push the game to Sep. I said May 2010 when I first joined the official forums in Dec. If they actually start CB in the next month, I'll still have a slim hope of a May launch. |

I was probably the first to apply.
I knew it was going to be up today, so I wrote out my app and reloaded all morning and applied in less than a minute when it went up.
Listen to me next time I make a rumor thread, guys. :P |

Like I've been saying, anyone who thinks this game is far off is just ignoring basic logic. Anyone who thinks the game is going to be dramatically different than what they've shown or explained is also just ignoring every fact. |

Glad, even surprised not only there will be open testing but also it's coming so soon. Cool stuff |

Worst Beta Sign Up Process In History. lol. Okay maybe not that bad, but it's quite laughable in a sad way... All day long, the site has pretty much been dead. When it IS up, it isn't for long. WHILE it is up, the process sucks with some automatic java computer scanning crap, which COULD be working, or maybe it's frozen... who knows! Frustrating and annoying but, whatcha gonna do aside from keep clickin' that REFRESH lol
--not to mention BioWare has sent me the same email about my account being updated almost a dozen times lol. ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

I was finally able to sign up about 10 mins ago.
It was brutal, had to keep refreshing and backpaging to get it to work but eventually got through the scan and application process.
And yes I did say early Q2, and my statement above about being "not far off" still stands, even if we get late Q2, being a late spring early summer release puts it right about where I figured it was in the development cycle.
In my game theory class at the AI in Seattle we actually did a "imaginary timeline" for production of a game and the teacher compared it to the imaginary timeline he made up for TOR.
He had it as a June launch and that was coming from an insiders' knowledge of development cycle times.

Every time I get to the 'scan computer' part, I get some crap trying to install on my computer... Java is up to date... the software is from System Requirements Lab... but when I go to install it, I just get a message and from there it's pretty much over and I have to refresh and try again. WTF :/ ever hear of uploading a DXDIAG? ugh... ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Signed up. =] glad I finally got a chance too almost 12 hours later. =P |

Originally posted by DeaconX That's system requirements lab, go check it out online, it uses java to scan your computer and can tell you if you can run a game or not using charts to mark your performance. DXDIAG would have been easier, but I won't doubt the ever knowing BioWare. =P |

After you guys scanned your machines, did you have to click anything to confirm/finalize the process? Basically an incomplete window pops up for me showing some of my system infor... no buttons, no scroll nothing else. Just a pop up I can't do anyting with :/ ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Darn thing just loops back to the initial registration page very time I try to submit my personal information. I think Bioware learned a tough lesson here. They have not done an MMO before. I have never seen an AAA MMO fail at the beta sign up stage before. They got slammed and were not prepared. I hoped they learned something from this. |

Turn on compatability mode in IE if you can't see any buttons. You need to hit submit after that window pops up. |
