I always wished they would make a game similar to FF XI as a single player and if they really decide to shut it down when FF XIV is launched (hopefully no) that would increase my happiness. They already have the lore, mobs, zones ecc and could function to something similar to phantasy star. What do you think ppl? |

Might be interesting, I would probably play it, just because I loved ffxi. Waiting for: Final Fantasy XIV |

Isn't that FF XII?

Nope that is a mix of final fantasy tactics and vagrant story. |

Not saying FF XII is bad by any chance it's not a bad game but FF XI is totally different in my opinion. |

This is the most idiotic thing i ever heard. It isn't developper's fault you can't make enough friends to form a network to beat this game.
FFXI as a single player game? How are you going to fight against alexader? or Promethia? You can win vs that eltucha whatever his name on RoZ boss but, if you think you can win vs promethia alone.
The game is for team play not "solo", give it up. I rather have it shut down as it is then ruin the game. Die with pride, die the japanese samurai way :P none |

It's an interesting thought, and I would definitely play it just for the fact that it would be another Final Fantasy game. There is something about the feel of an MMO that captivates me and a single player XI just wouldn't feel the same. I'm soloing in XI right now but something about not having the prospect of being a part of a team if I so choose, or being able to compete against other people just doesn't sound as fun. Making an MMO a single player RPG would take away that sense of community all MMO's have, and that's why I play. And they aren't taking XI away when XIV comes out so nothing to worry about there. They said they are going to run them and update them along side each other for awhile, or so I read. |

I agree. I also think, as a smart company, they wouldn't state they would keep it for awhile, and then cut it on the same day of the release of their new game. Even if they hadn't stated they would keep it running, and what I read was false, they wouldn't cut it. They would let it run it's course for a few months before slowly letting it lose it's grip. As many people that there are that are willing to up and convert to the new title, there are still those who wish to remain behind, and basically "forcing" people to get the new one to continue playing would upset their fan base, and that could cause some of the die hards to leave the franchise (probably never happen though) which would be worse than leaving a game early, only to sign up for the new one within the next year. |

Is there some sort of plan announced to transfer accounts to FF XIV from FF XI? I seem to recall reading something that implied such a scheme. |

Yeah it was to reserve names. Since it's all set in a difference universe with different races I doubt there will be any account transferring. I've also heard something about last names for the characters so that multiple people with the same character name, but on different servers in XI, can keep that name in XIV. |
