So many posts complaint about Aion is "Been there" and "Done that" MMO, because the quest asks a player to go to kill XXX number of mobs or collecting XXX number of items.  I just have 1 question:  When AOC and War came out, did those same complaint about these 2 games have that kind of quests?  Because when I played both games, I was doing the same thing, killing XXX number of mobs and collecting XXX number items.  So, it's ok for AOC, Warhammer, LOTRO, or even EVE online (randomly generate mission: like it's god's gift for players), Don't they all ask the gamer to do the same thing??  Go to this "Location and kill 10 of this "NPC" then come back for reward.  Or go to that location and pick up this item and deliver to another location.

So it's ok for those games but it's no ok for Aion.  I think mainly people who complain about it, basically they just can't stand a game which is created by Asian people can be actually fun.  The list from graphic, anime style, mechanical of the game, zone size, to as tiny detail of old style quests are not GOOD enough from "Western Players".

No one? ever seen some of the random troll stating "it's just a typical asian grinder"? They just don't like asian games and probably people from there too.

My guess for the "been there, done that" folks is probably because of all the hype this game generated. The core pve game is the same as every other game with pve and quests. It's not Aion's developers fault per se. They just didn't come up with a breakthrough quest system. Anyone could have figured out that Aion didn't have that by reading these (gulp...) forums.

All of these games have similar mechanics... such is the way of MMORPGs.

What I found alarming was how similar Aion feels to WoW specifically. The gameplay is almost EXACTLY the same as WoW. They have virtually copied every single gamplay element from that game. Even the flight mechanic is nothing new considering that everyone post BC in WoW could fly with less limitations using their mounts.

The art style also has a more cartoony look than other Asian games like Lineage 2 (for example). Some of the textures and areas look like they could be transplanted to WoW and no one would know the difference.

I am not saying Aion is not a goog game. I am playing it right now and enjoying it quite a bit. But I do find it painfully obvious who they were trying to emulate above all others. Frankly, I have been there and I have done that. Hopefully I can enjoy the game anyway...

People did complain about it for those games, well at least everything but eve, eve pre-dated wow and that system hadn't run its course yet.

Asians didn't really pioneer that quest style, sorry, and lets face it, asian MMO's typically suck....

By far the dumbest yet. I played WOW for a year and I can say outside of the interface, which I think copying was a good thing, this game does not look like WOW, EQ2 probably, but WOW what a joke. Im not saying this game is better than WOW, but I have beta tons of MMORPG and have played non stop since EQ1. People dont play for change, they play for comfort. EQ and WOW are much more similar than different. This game is still Asian which I  like, but its funny that people say that its a WOW clone then in their next post its an Asian grinder, please make up your mind. I do find it humerous both ways. I find it bad to prey on sheep
