I think getting a Lifetime sub. was the best thing I ever did.

Sometimes I have money for computer games, sometimes I'm doing other things; but  always being able to log onto LOTRO gets rid of all that.

With other games I tend to come and go. Wish more companies would do that.Having to pay monthly pretty much garrentees that I won't at all.

I've had a lifetime account since launch and added another one about a year and a half ago, both at $200.

While up till now I haven't taken any significant break from playing LotRO I plan on trying out Aion so my LotRO playtime will probably be diminished some.

Without them being lifetime accounts I would probably feel pressured to cancel both my LotRO accounts (I would also probably never have gotten a 2nd in the first place) but now I can slow down my LotRO playtime till the expansion later this year without any problems.

ya, i have a lifetime, and just a few months ago got the girlfriend one too, on my founders discount. i've been playing for several hours everyday recently actually. though, with aion on the way, probably cut back a fair bit for awhile. the great thing about lifetime subs, is just being able to log in whenever you want. LOTRO is the only mmo that never get's uninstalled.

i think every mmo should offer lifetimes. sure some you'll get burned, but not often. perhaps with lifetimes on more mmos, some of the companies would keep their games alive longer..... i'd still be playing tabula rasa and auto assault, if ncsoft had lifetimes and cut both of those back to single servers. i would have bought champions online' lifetime, if they had dealt with some of the issues my system had with the game. the only reason i didn't get it, was due to the poor fps i was getting for no reason.

I also bought a lifetime account, and don't regret the decision. It was money well-spent.

That said, I haven't logged in for a few months. The end-game is currently quite monotonous to me. I'm hoping the next expansion will be interesting enough to pull me back in. With the lifetime membership, I don't have to worry about subscription fees with LotRO ever. Just buy the expansion and start playing.

Current: Ryzom, DFO
Played: WoW, CoV, SWG, EVE, LotRO, AoC, VG, CO
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, WAR, EQ2, CoS, FE
Future: Mortal Online, Earthrise, APB

Yes we were really looking forward to that BUT this has been well worth the money. I really liked the idea of the sandbox and he toons still getting xp in what they were doing last, either crafting or fighting, while not online. I would LOVE to have seen our toons wandering around their houses or in Bree while not online ie Oblivion but with our toons! Would love to logout in the Bree crafting area and log back in by the the Pony getting a drink. Would have been amazing.

I'm SO glad I did the Lifetime deal!

I've been playing for 2 1/2 yrs and still enjoy the game very much. Plus, having the Lifetime lets me dabble in other games that come out with no guilt. I tried 2 new games last year that were horrible and was so glad to have LoTRO to run back to! It's a "AAA" game and I will play it as my "Main game" until the game ends.

When I think of the cash I've spent over the years:( $600+ in AC over 4 +yrs, $400 in WoW over 2 yrs) doing the Lifetime was a good investment for me....I truly can't go back to watching boring TV every night now. These games are SO much more fun and stimulating:)

I`m a Lifer too, been one one Day 1, best money i ever spent, i may  dissappear for a month or two at a time, but i always feel like i`ve `come home`, when i do return, .... and being a lifer, means no pressure at all, to get things done in the game, i feel much more relaxed, than i did with other games *cough, WoW, cough*.

LoTRo ... best game ever.

I purchased a lifetime membership awhile back. Cannot  remember if it was $100 or $200 since I've played since the closed beta version. Whether it is worth it or not, is based on how long it takes you to become bored or when you hit that level ceiling and you have to stop. Since the game used to cost about $15 per month (now $10), if you played over a year it would be worth it...

But it's really worth it if you have to wait a half a year or more until they raise the max level or add additional content.. you can just wait and it will not cost  those monthly fees...

Do I still play.. yes... but not seriously until  they raised the level from 50 to 60 with the new expansion. After 60, .. not much since adding new titles doesn't thrill me much...

What some people do not realize is that most of those large MMORPG games will hold your character on their servers even after you cancel your account. They then have a means to get you back as a subscriber if you take up one of their new offers and start to play again.. I logged on to WOW after about 15 months for a free 10 day trial, and there was my characters with all their stuff.. same thing happened with  DND Online...

Yup im a Lifer, but i havent played for a couple months b/c i have my account hacked (dunno how) and Turbine wont help me out unless I can get the credit card info on the account.

My dad bought me the lifetime as a present with his credit card. I dont talk to him anymore for reason that im not going to mention but the bottom line is, I would play but I dont have my account anymore. Great game and I love it.

in a word yes I still play, not as much in summer as winter but I figure the lifetime was the best purchase game wise I ever made. By next month when the weather turns back to crap I will back to daily playing again

i got my lifetime at launch as well.. bought it along with the collectors edition.. and so did one of my friends...

havent looked back since.. work, exams and other commitments tke time out of my schedule sometimes and often the game goes neglected. hence my first character is stuck at level 44.. not cos i cant play it.. but cos often i struggle to find people to quest with.. and all the quests that i have left for that character are fellowship ones that i cant solo..  hence started other characters and built them up to 'Undying' title :)

i like the feel of the game.. the atmosphere oozes a rich feel of being in middle earth, so much so that i HATE going to the Forbidden Forest... gives me the creeps.. and i hate getting lost in it !

the crafting is good.. and i like the way they have made various professions interdependent.. i wish Turbine or Codies did something to get more players in and improve the numbers.. but having said so, i am happy that a huge majority of people that play are decent mature players that dont crib, whine or cuss each other.. i have tried WoW 3 times now and was apalled by the lack of help that was on offer for new players... no one would explain anything at all... all i got was 'effing noob'...

anyways, i think the number of ppl available to quest with depends on the various servers as well.. i am playing all my alts on Evernight..

Not real happy with Turbine and the direction they've taken the game.  Each patch/book the game added more an more features that make it close to a WOW clone...with no expansion in sight.

Oh well, with a lifetime sub I can quit for a year and come back anytime I want.  Anxiously awaiting TOR.

Totally agree, although I plan to try Aion and will likely pass up TOR. I would have regrets buying the life-time so thankfully I didn't. On top of everything you've mentioned the pvp LOTRO offered is very bland compared to other MMOs so I slowly grew bored. I left after seeing Moria's content and haven't looked back since.

I'm a lifer, and I play now and then (just made a new character this week actually - on a server where I know nobody, with no money).  It's a good game, I still have a lot I would like to accomplish.  The beauty of the lifetime is that I only log in a couple of times a month and kill some quests off the list, but the downside is I probably still haven't broken even.  Still, it's nice having LOTRO in my pocket.  It may not be the most exciting game out there, but it's good, and is essentially free for me now until the next expansion.

I still play , most times in junks of 3-4 months ..then i grow fat up with killing orcs again and look for something new to test ^^

Moria is realy worth a tour :D.

Atm cheking Aion and having a blast..makes the Chars in Lotro look even worse when you come back.

But i will be back, Lotro feels like an open living world where Aion feels more linear thempark in low lvls but

i have good fun with it, its sometimes is more relaxing to just go down a fun route then to get lost in

Virtue, Radiance gear, faction, crafting or Legendary item grind..

Yup. Still here. A lifer from Day One. Sure, one needs a break from the game from time to time, just to try other stuff, but I always find myself coming back to LOTRO. No matter how new, cool and flashy a game tries to be, however much they try to lure me over with their colorful candystores and themeparks, nothing can really beat a good put-together gameworld with excellent lore and a great community. Oh yeah, and the music in LOTRO is seriously great :-)

Yep. Lifer from pre-order here. I've only stopped playing once and that only lasted a little under a year. The rest of my time has been with LoTRO. Unfortunately, I'm starting to once again feel like taking a break. At least until radiance becomes easier to obtain. The only radiance piece my main has is the chest, which dropped from the Turtle. Other than that instance, I don't have the time to really grind for the rest of the pieces....with having a job, family and band and pretty much being only able to play during hours with not many people on. Yep. Again....glad I'm a lifer.

But I'm optimistic with SoM. :)

Two lifetimes here. I don't play as much as I used to, but I am working evenings now and days are spent with the kids. But My wife still plays her account every night, and we've been around since early closed beta.

I have two, and I am thinking of converting a third, if they offer the $199 again. I've been playing since closed beta, and play fairly often/

I'm still playing with my lifetime account.  Still one of the most solid PvE games out there IMO.  More than worth the $199 fee I paid.

That's the nature of the game that sold too many lifetime subscribtions and have not that much regular subscribers. It went FAR AWAY from the original vision and now became a game nothing alike with the game at release. Devs struggle to get new subscribers and they don't care if they pull off lifetimers, because well.. of obvious reason.
