As a former war player (for about 10 months),  I always thought with all its flaws, it was still more fun than aoc (opinion).  Even though xfire is almost meaningless to tell subs, its fairly good at showing trends.  With that in mind, this is the first time that I see Warhammer Online below AOC.  This can not be good, esp since EA is pretty unforgiving if they don't like the performance of one of their products.

Might be the effect of NcSoft's MMO, but were any improvements made to the game in the past 3 months?  It would be a shame to see EA pull the plug on it : /

Pull the plug on it already. It was a good effort at making something in the warhammer universe, but with only 2 factions there is little to really keep a person interested. They should have followed the DAoC model with 3 different realms. That being said, even Jeff Hickman stated that they screwed up the game. Its been out how long now with only 2 out of 6 capital cities available? Too many CC issues, balance issues, and basically forcing PvE to compete with PvP. Cookie cutter classes and races. The game was a letdown for many fans of the genre. I played it for a few months, got a few toons to 40 rr50ish, the game has little appeal after a while. The list goes on with the complaints.

Let the game die.

What is interesting is that before the release, they pulled people from the DAoC team to this game, and now it seems they are pulling from this game back to DAoC. With a successful merger, what could they have in store for DAoC next?

Exactly just turn the light off let everyone remember it was fun for a short while (T1-T2). Dragging on and on like this does nothing but ruin Mythic's name and the developpers behind. The game had no real direction, bad decisions, basically they had an idea in mind and players were not part of it.

If devs can save AoC and Vanguard, then WAR still has a chance.

Is it weird that a Microsoft buyout would improve EA's brand image significantly in my eyes?

I could see people from WAR switcing to Aion, its similar in many ways. People who like AoC are probably less likely to switch as quickly since they are quite different style wise.

Just as Warhammer is drastically different from the style of Aion.

Best thing that could happen;  Microsoft buys EA, and sells the rights to WAR to a company like Relic, who could do the IP justice.

As far as I understand AoC has fixed its basic gameplay problems (bugs, lag, balance, etc) and the population has leveled out (still shrinking, but at a slow pace). Liking or disliking AoC is now a matter of taste. WAR on the other hand, hasnt fixed its basic problems and is still loosing subs fast. I think its really that simple.

Also i beleive AoC is a better PvE/ solo experience than WAR, but this is my personal oppinion and its not based on much fact.

Playing: Not anymore. Just lurking.

Not after this new double-charge fiasco. Anyone who was double-charged in the month of September knows what I am talking about. It's been a hell of a time trying to get the extra $15 back that they took from my debit account.

Their CSRs are telling people to do one thing when you call in, while their forum Moderators are telling you, "no, don't do that". It's a complete mess, but with this game, would you expect anything less.

I've stuck with this game since release, but finally just canceled my sub as enough is enough with this band of mismanaged misfits.

I'm not sure who they have in charge at this company, but it's run almost as well as our government!

I'm afraid it's a bit late for that.  Every patch for the last year has been THE patch and you are actually falling for it again?

Obviously you dont play WAR..troll

WAR is not AOC, its not a game that has been hanging around by a thread waiting on some miracle patch to make it work. The last patch borked the high end game, and this new patch should fix it again, and make the high end game more accessible for players.

Pretty sure that's what it was like for a lot of people. Every patch has a group of people calling it the do or die patch for them, and every month the game has shrunk (?) more and more.

They released an 'expansion' "patch" and you could almost hear a pin fall over the 'overwhelming' reaction to it.

Apparently you dont play either, i have been playing since release. Has it had problems ,yes. Have they borked things in patches yes. Has the population decreased,yes.. but yet and still there has never been a so-called "miracle patch" that i have heard about that was suppose to triple the population and make this the game of the year. It was never that broke ,nothing like AOC or Vanguard were,to need a miracle patch. No miracle is needed they broke something and are now fixing it, and if you played WAR's endgame you know what im talking about.

And the expansion/patch you speak of was very tiny and really had nothing to do with what core WAR was all about, i still havent done the expansion cuz im not into PVE carebear stuff, and most i play with arent either, its just sumthin to do in the downtime between battles.

My post was focused at a patch that IS going to bring back alot of people who left over the last patch, because they addressed and are fixing issues that ran alot of people away to AION. And our population will increase again, will it be the same it was the day of release ,NO. Just about every game on the market has a population decrease,no game is keeping their pop from release day and to think they will is ignorant.... only game is WOW that over the years population grew and grew.

WAR isnt for everyone and never will be,its not EQ or WOW or AOC where you grind quests to level that not what the game is about and once people learn that it turns alot away.

There is still a lot of people that like this game and they will love the next patch.

You have never played and bring he say/she say opinions to the forums. There alot of people who will disagree with your statement and mine, but im not here to win freinds or recruit you or others to WAR.

WAR's end game was borked after the last patch and they are working at fixing that so all of the existing players and ones who got mad over last patch will like the changes and if you left ,you should give it a go again after next patch, i think all will be pleased.

The patch is pure trash, I was reading it thinking this looks good then I got to the bit where there removing the need to take forts I couldn't stop laughing. They put a second ramp into keeps now forts just where the hell are you suposed to stop the zerg now? I know the server i'am on the destro will be in the city 24/7 farming crests because we have next to no chance stopping them locking zones.

Do you play WAR?  Dark Crag had the biggest Order & Destro guilds quit for Aion.  These guys ran most of the mass RvR.

Key difference between AoC and WAR.  Funcom manned up to the huge screw ups they made and the game has improved steadily.  WAR still has the same key issues it had which have crippled it.

Hey listen, most of WAR's current playerbase are still playing due to faith & hope.  We all saw the potential, we all enjoy the game but the key flaws eventually drove us away.  Just a matter of how long it takes.  You're obviously slow.

Playing: EvE, Aion
Played: Anarchy Online, WoW, Warhammer, AoC, Ryzom.
Strongly Recommend: Ryzom, EvE.

Im slow and your a douche so...... maybe that big whinefest known as Rhuin left from order side the other guilds on DC order didnt do anything but follow Rhuin around anyway so they dont even count, but the big destro guilds are still there, there just never were any guilds like Rhuin on Destro side. My guild has 400+ active members and 20-75 on at any given time all level 40.

If you played AOC at release you would know how much better WAR was at  release. AOC was damn near unplayable for 50% of people and the other half got max level and had nothing to do the game was over..everything was so borked only thing left to do was make a new toon... so yes AOC did need a miracle patch to make the game work, matter of fact they had multiple miracle patches. It took AOC a year to get its shit right and now WAR maybe on the same track a year later, but in the last year WAR had a lot going on, AOC did not.

If you really read my posts instead of picking it a part looking for some way to insult me, you would see that i said WAR has issues and some of the major ones are being addressed with this patch....there is still alot of fun to be had in WAR and if you dont think so then thats you.

But it was my fault for posting in these forums, these are the most hostile, hate filled, whinefest forums on the web. No one here lets people have an opinion or debate things without flaming everything they dont agree with. So ill take this one on the chin, and excuse the fuck outta me for trying to let people who left WAR over some of the games issues know that they seem to be getting a fix and the END-game might be worth a run again
