You've seen the server que...
You've battled with faction population caps...
Now we must take on the biggest control mechanic ever introduced into an MMO...

Being logged off the server by NCSoft, not for being afk, but for the amount of hours you've been on...
Granted you can log back in right away, but theres a chance you may have to wait again through server que...

What is the time limit?

If it's an hour or two, that's pretty ridiculous. It may also be to stop people who circumvented the AFK-logout, by taping a key down when they went to bed/school/work.

I'm not positive on the total time allowed, but the fact any MMO has this implemented is kind of going overboard with controlling their players. I can understand in Asia with gold farmers killing themselves by playing so much, but I've never heard of this type of MMO control in an NA server.

Other than getting a message saying I'd been on for 3 hrs and I should take a break, I've not experienced an issue as you've described.  How many hours are we talking about here?

Methinks you are spreading urban legends.

How long were you on before you were booted?

The only time that I can play is on the weekends, and this weekend I hadn't made plans to go out.  This means that I basically gorged myself on game-time and I played for 7 hours straight on Saturday.  I was never booted.

So.. I dunno. I haven't seen what you're talking about.  Maybe I should have though lol

I agree that this is does sound unfounded...

If he had said that they intend to go with hourly charges, I could at least see SOMETHING that this was based on (hourly charges implemented in other versions).... however, without any references, I am dubious.

Rhok, me thinks you are either lieing, or mis-reading somethig.

The only announcement about something that kicks you off suddenly is the new Private Store setting. If you sit around in your Private Store for more than 30 minutes, you'll get kicked.

And the only reason people are doing it is because they don't want to exit the game for work/college/whatever. There's been Store signs saying "AFK for work and college" and such all around. Its to help with the queueing so you don't have these dickheads taking up spots for 7+ hours and being afk during all of it.

Only got the "You have been playing for X hours, you need to  take a break" message.

The only DC's I have gotten was 3 server restarts and a crash via a glitch on my side.

If they are starting up something like this, I would agree that this is major suckage.  Howver, I have seen nothing to indicate that NCsoft is doing this.  Perhaps the OP's DC's have coincidently lined up with the notice?  That would create the impression of timed DC's.

Yea, I seriously doubt this.... Even on the China server as long as you verified that you were an adult there was no restrictions. For children there were tho.

Even tho my sarcasm meter is on high atm your idea wouldn't be bad as long as they followed it up with an annoucement that they are adding a server.  Throwing a 3 hr limit so players can experience the game while they still have their free month going, and then gauging whether or not another server is needed would be an acceptable way to handle things.

The time limit is 24 hours, I know this because I have first hand experiences (had a stall opened for the night before the 30 mins). At hour 23:30, you will get a message warning you that it will log you out in the next 30 mins and to take a break. IMO 24 hours and you can always bypass the queue but being in a party when you were log out.

From what I hear from guild mates, there is a limit... 24hrs..lol Two of our guys ran into it, and they logged right back on... Really, how many people play 24hrs straight, and how often do they do it? I don't see a big deal.

24 hours. FORTY-FOUR. I can't see how someone can complain about being logged out after A WHOLE DAY logged in, especially when they can just relog to reset the timer., and the game warns you 30 minutes before, and constantly warns you as it gets closer to The Time.

I've yet to encounter this, most i've played is 10 hours

If its 24 hours...then honestly you should be thanking NCsoft.
