Would like to know if there is any european player that could tell me if there is much lag as servers are in north america.

Yes, and a FPS with lag is not fun.

Game is dreadful anyway, stay away from it.

I'm currently located in Norway and as far as I can tell I have no problems(with lag) what so ever. Not yet atleast. *knocks on wood*. Having a blast atm.

Its pratically impossible to shoot anything that is not standing still from the EU. You can aim in front of a target then the system automatically make you miss and you can keep your sight on target because then lag causes you to not hit it.

Only when things are standing still or are running straight towards you can you hit them.

Guess many EU players will go for melee that dont have these problems.

I am in the uk and suffer from no lag, saying that i had 2 really bad lag spikes for a couple of seconds but being playing since release so thats nothing. Also on another note im loving this game what a breath of fresh air .

I am also in Norway, and the lag is horrendous. Hard as hell to shoot anything, massive (sometimes up to 10 seconds) lag when picking up/completing quests, and so on. However, that is when it is primetime in the US. During off hours, it is only kind of bad. But yes, lag overall.

I'm in Sweden, no lag whatsoever!

You who get lag, do you have decent computers? Just to make sure it is lag you get and nothing to do with poor computers...

It is latency, not FPS drops. As in, everything is fine, and the mobs are simply not where the screen is telling you. Also, if I right click my mount, and it takes 3-4 seconds before he gets on or off of it, then that is straight up server lag. If I take a quest, and it still shows the yellow biohazard symbol (meaning they are offering a quest) for the next ten seconds before it finally turns red, then that is straight up server lag.

My computer destroys this game, and I never have stuttering or other FPS problems, but the latency is killing me during US peak hours. Middle of the day in Europe is barable, but still a bit laggy, and the lag REALLY shows when you are shooting long range with rifles, or trying to hit moving targets. Also, as I stated earlier, this game has a nasty memory leak. I can play out in the fields for hours at a time, and usually quite some time in the starter towns as well. But 30 mins walking around in Embry? Or Midtown? Memory crashes out the ass. You can load up the game, go to Embry/Midtown, and then Ctrl Alt Del, and check how much RAM the Frontend.exe is using. Then, go walk around for a min or two, and check it again. Keep checking it. Then, around 2.2-2.4 gigs of usage, the game crashes. You can sit at the Taskmanager window, and just watch the RAM usage tick up. And I have 8 gigs of RAM.

I think it has to do with what routes some people's ISPs take. I hear of EU players playing with as much lag as I have here in the US and I hear of EU players having so much lag it's impossible to play. Even in this thread, "I'm from X and I have no lag" and "I'm from X too and I get a 25000ms ping!". So, I just think it's due to different ISPs taking difference routes to get to the servers.

That combined with the fact that FE didn't exactly host it's servers in a good place on the Grid. They are in NC, which is pretty much off any major network grid and adds a few more hops to get there. Dallas, NY, or anywhere in CA would have been much better. Those are all major internet.

Sad thing is, I coulda sworn I read somewhere that one of the Devs is from Dallas.

Edit:

Yup, that has to be the issue. I just did a tracert on login.fallenearth.com and it comes up with over 25 hops and I'm in Arkansas. When I was in Iraq, my tracert to a WoW Server in Dallas only took 27... and my ISP went through 5 secure proxies.

I don't think that login.fallenearth.com reflects an accurate ping though.

Edit 2:

Then you go into another factor of ISP servers. My ISP makes it's first dab into the internet in Dallas and the server my ISP owns there adds 50ms to any thing I do. Sucks. I'm pretty limited on FPS Servers. Even though I have 10mbps. (speed doesn't play a factor... just sayin)

A pingpath also times out after 22 hops. So, assuming that it is a single hop that is timing out for me, that means 33 hops from me to their server. However, there are tons of timeouts along the way. Makes the game very difficult to play. One thing that puzzles me though, is that EVE online is in Iceland, and yet the US players don't seem to have these sorts of problems...

Wow, idk then. lol

Weird.

You actually get up to Raleigh, faster than I do and with less hops.

Hatter is mostly correct in saying it's the path you are travelling. For some reason, it looks like your pings are hitting the ceiling once you touch down in Raleigh. You could get in touch with their support with the problem and several traceroutes showing the same thing and let them see if they can't sort it out. Also, check out the software you are running at the time as well, taking out any that might suck up bandwidth as well, such as any instant chat software, steam, or anything else that forms its own connection over the internet.

I know, I have been gaming for a while. :P I have played most MMOs, and never suffered from something like this. I dont run firewalls or anti-virus, and I shut down utorrent and the like. My bandwidth usages remains below 1% during my entirety of my Fallen Earth gaming time. Typically using around 30kbs downstream, and 15kbs upstream.

I tried a pathping and got 16 hops, about 1200ms took the entire path, i think thats unplayable.

Well, this is the reality of the situation guys. The European players that I have spoken to, through Teamspeak and the game have said that lag wasn't unsurmountable for them. There's a strong contingent of German players in the game and they don't seem to be having any major problems. That leads me to believe that somewhere along your path is a router that is acting up  or something on your computer is playing havoc. One thing I would point fingers at is Xfire,  which I know from personal experience can play havoc with your ping.

I was playing with some french folks earlier tonight and they were getting less lag then I was here in Virginia NA, only a couple 100 miles from them, so not sure what to say.

I am from Spain, i think we dont have precisely very good isps, anyway it seems it depends a lot of isp and not so much of country. I have played other mmos and i never got that ping, is much higher than any other mmo, though i have always played european servers. Its a pity, i was thinking about playing it, seems every game has a drawback.
