UO or WoW for me...hard to choose between them as they are each so different.

I feel bad for you dude, Everytime You get a fun game to play the devs fucking change it on ya lol.

If I were you I would have a tough time trusting any developer with my cash.

Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age?

SWG Pre-CU.

Hands down, no contest.

And I've played just about everything.

Star Wars Galaxies back when it was still Star Wars Galaxies and not EQ40000 :)

Suprised to see Darkfall in there but good to see :)

It's nowhere near my favourite yet but it's early days and i want to see how far they go with this one. If they continue with the patchs of recent quality then this could well be heading up the charts!

Horizons.

This game had potential.

Strengths in my opinion were:

Robust multiclassing, only challenged in this area by guildwars and perhaps final fantasy.

Superior crafting system, only challenged by starwars galaxies.

One race option was to play a Dragon, and they were a different playing experience than a biped race.

Player crafted towns, epic crafting global tasks like repairing a bridge to link two land masses.

Large world to explore, with way cool atmosphere.

Weaknesses:

Core game engine was simply not good enough; so lag and the likke was an issue.

No pvp (I call this a weakness because less people will be attracted to play if there is no pvp)

Large world had areas that were somewhat empty.

I just have massive nostalgia for my  year in Horizons. I loved the game but the iffy game engine was rough to deal with.

I even paid the monthly fee for about two more  years to support them even though the game would not run on my new pc that had Vista :)   (Horizons does run on Vista now)

I'd have to say UO because of the crafting, RP potential, open skill system, housing, and community.

DAoC is a very close second. RvR of this type hasn't been matched on any level yet that I've experienced.

I would have to say Anarchy Online, with Asherons call in a very close second.

Both very sandbox games, with very different settings.

AO were an explorers dreams back then, before the ease of travel with fixer grid and a LOT more whompas.

I am fairly certain I were the first to experience a lot of locations were none had been before except the people who created it.

There were a lot of places that were of the grid so to speak, with little to no reason to go there and still the developers had put in a LOT of time to make these places staggering and exciting, just with no real reward aside from the WOW factor.

I remember an entire weekend just running, no killing as the mobs were lvl 80-160 and I were like 50, dodging, sneaking, watching, i was mesmerized.

The attention to detail was crazy.

Grinding was FUN, I remember standing in the same location for 27 hours, and even though that may sound weird it was a good grind spot and probably 50 people entered and left my team in that time, and most of them were very chatty, I laughed a lot.

Did not care much for the shadowlands expansion, even though I played and had some fun the race for faction and gear got the better of this game.

Even though gear and levels of course played a big role in the early game, it was overshadowed, at least for me, by good company and having fun.

 I'd have to say my favorite game would be the first MMORPG that I tried;

Everquest

From the day I started it was fun.  Made a troll shadowknight and ventured out into Innothule swamp and met up with around 5-6 other troll newbs.  We spend all day killing froglocks until we managed to get to Southern Ro.  I never left southern ro or innothule for at least a week until a higher level told me about the other places.  I got a friend into the game and he made a dark elf necro and I went on a huge (so it seemed) adventure trying to get from Innothule to Neriak at like level 8.  Mind you, I didn't have maps or spoilers and was totally newbish.  One troll decided to checkout the large tower in the middle of the lake in Oasis and learned about specters.  Another ran into Lockjaw.  I got lost and walked right up to Freeport guards who promptly killed me.

Four years later... I ended up retiring at 60th.  I made alot of friends helped start a guild which is still going to this day and was arguably the best shadowknight on the server.  I say that because the one shadowknight I frequently dueled with lost to me everytime and he won the BOTB tourney they had.

The community was very tight knit.  Everyone posted on this old forum called bertoxxhall.  Almost everyone knew each other and if there was one bad seed they quickly became blacklisted.  It was nothing like these days where numerous douchbags can excel at the game.  Never happened in EQ.  If someone was a douche they were quickly blacklisted serverwise.  in most cases these people left for another server or tried to change their name or started over.

Pre-kunark there was only 2 dungeons to level up to 50.  Sol b and Lguk.  You had to join lists and wait hours to get into an exp group.  Doing this you got to know people really well because the more friends you made the easier you got groups.  Be a douche and you never got onto lists for groups.

L2 or WoW.

Comparing MMOs with burger companies-the epitome of logic.

EQ1... Why community. Group oriented gameplay.. You actaully made lasting friends. PUGS were not discouraged. Competitive play. More in depth not everyone was running around with the same gear.

I would follow this up with Vanguard.. Why it in many ways continued with the tradition... Its sad that it had such a rocky launch they should have given it a year more before launch... The game has come a long way since it has launched but to little to late most people would say.. Still love the game though..

Aion is looking promising though.. We will see how it develops.. It has a certain EQ1... WOW... DAoC mix to it that might keep me here for years to come.

Just really enjoyed it, despite the flaws. Sad it's not around any longer.

EVE

Fallen Earth

Monster & Me (Grindy as hell. But it has a very complex pet leveling system... or used to. It was years ago)

UO

Dransik (Beta name for Ashen Empires.... sorta. Ashen Empires is about as much like Dransik as SWG today is to Pre-CU)

SWG
