According to UPS tracking, my "package has experienced an exception."  followed by something about "incorrect routing at UPS facility."  Ok, so that sounds like it'll take an extra day or two.  Maybe more if its secret code for "oops, we smashed your package into tiny little pieces."  but my preorder has already been suspended?

Seems like these Asian MMOs have such a screw-the-customer mentality, and I guess that in Asia, people put up with it.  They must think Americans are so spoiled.. Sometimes giving a little can go a long way, but in a game like this, seems like they're just too big to care.

So it's AIONs fault that UPS lost your package?

It's not about pointing fingers.  What good does that do?  It's about giving customers a little slack in case any number of things go wrong.

I dont blame NCSoft. This keeps people from playing the game for free and then deciding not to buy it. Just my opinion

I don't agree with it but they all seem to do this.  Only game I know that made an exception was Warhammer and that's because there was some type of snafu with a couple outlets that were involved in the preorder process so considering the number of accounts that were going to be effected EA caved in and gave some additional time.

I've always felt there should be more of a grace period with this.

The queues are the reason for not cutting you some slack. They urgently want to get rid of everyone who has not actually bought the game.

Rightfully so.

I thought numerous of MMOs offered a grace period, least the ones with preorder headstart type deals.  Even NCSoft's sad little game, Auto Assault, did.  I know that Champions did.  I could have used to to get a few extra days in, since I'd cancelled by pre-order.  I didn't do that, because there wasn't any point to playing for a few days, just to quit.

I can't speak for CO but none of the others I dealt with did.  Of course, I was always fortunate and the game arrived when it was supposed to.  Some of my friends...not so much...

I know this might not be entirely PC to say, but there are cultural differences.  Different standards, different norms.  Course there are always exceptions, lot of American businesses don't understand the concept of putting the customer first.  But it is widely considered to be a good business practice here.  I don't think I'm racist, but in my experience, "The customer is always right" would sound like crazy talk in Korea.

ok tell me you don't feel the irony?

In any case, NC West is an American company. On top of that there was a 24 hour grace period. Heck, I feel your pain as UPS delievered my package when I was sleeping so instead gave me the litttle note. Of course the ups guy sometimes will refuse to leave a package, even if you say "it's ok". So I took a taxi to the ups depot and picked up my package myself.

i know ups can be a pain like that, but i usually have good luck with them here.  in this case, i cant even go pick it up, because it ended up on the wrong truck, and was is currently being taken about 50 miles in the wrong direction.

as for irony, i don't think hoping for a little more consideration qualifies as being spoiled, but i do see how it can look that way.

If you can't kill it, don't make it mad.

LOL! Nice to see that the PC Police are on the job! Have you ever lived in Asia?  They do have a rather different culture, with different expectations and perceptions(one of which is they are more tolerant of ganking and griefing than the west tends to be).   That is one of the reasons that Asian games tend not to do nearly as well in the west.  "screwing" ones customers isn't limited to Asia, the West or the Middle East. Its a BAD business practice. But it does tend to manifest itself in cultures that are more tolerant of such.   That observation is hardly "racist", though the PC brigade seldom lets such realities intrude into their self limited perceptions...

Is this thread for real?  So NCSoft are at fault for UPS buggering up your package, and this is due to cultural differences.  LOL - what a loser of an argument. *wonders if the OP is about 9*

I feel your pain.  The same thing happened to me when warhammer was released.   I think the grace period should have been atleast a week but whatever.
