I like Aion ,just not the game for me. None of the games out right now are too great to me I don't know what it is , feel like a drug addict or something none of these games seem to touch the games that started it all for some reason. Cant get the same feeling playing them lol. Could just be me I have no clue why. I have tried every game but i still find myself back playing DAoC. And most of the early games have changed so much its like playing one of the newer ones anyway.

Now this is what I call FAIR opinion about a game and FAIR reason for why someone is not playing it.

Good luck in DAOC and maybe someday, you will give Aion a second change !

I know how you feel. I just play MMORPGs until something new comes out, anymore. Nothing can come close to the pre-2003 games for me.

RIP DAOC, Asheron's Call (1), Pre-F2P AO, Pre-NGE Galaxies.

Here's hoping Secret World ends up OK.

I think there was a thread out here that was something like, "who is playing Aion just because they're bored with everything else?"

A lot of people responded that that was the truth.

I think I saw this thread on this and that but I'm not sure. What it comes down to is you are getting older. Nothing can give me that pre 00 UO feeling..now that was a game.

That is very subjective. I am from old MMO school. Meridean 59, EQ, daoc, and the list goes on and on. I am enjoying playing Aion but that doesn't mean you will.

here are some key notes to think about.

It has a very distinctive Asian flare. If you don't like that type of graphics, it will not be for you.

Leveling is fast early on, but the higher you get, the longer it will take to level. Some grinding is involved. If you dont like grinding, it may not be for you.

Post 25 (and depending on what zone your in 20-25) it is going to be more PVP focused. There are still lots of content for PVE but keep in mind, you will be hunting in (wow terms) a contested area, so there is going to be gank squads running around constantly but the zones are huge.

Then you will have fortress battles so that your group or guild or side can go into and gain access to some PVE instances.

Animations in the game are nice

Sound is great (except for your character making bruce lee noises every time he/she swings or casts a spell)

Visually speaking, the world is very nice.

Overall I think it will hold me over for a while. I really am only interested in one MMO coming out and that is StarTrek Online. Depending on how that turns out, I may only be playing one or possibly two mmo's at the same time :)

I'm an old DAOC vet.  I even resubbed this Summer and rolled some Thid toons.  Every MMO I've played since I've compared to DAOC.  I haven't played deep into AION but it's looking good so far.  Every DAOC player I talk to say that AION finally gives them that PvP fix they've been looking for.

Time will tell but I'm loving the game so far.

I am pretty much in the same state as the OP, I liked Aion, I followed Aion from day 1, but something just didn't click while I was playing it and I found myself cancelling my CE. Hopefully an MMO comes out in the future that just surprises everyone.

Currently Playing: Nothing

Have Played: UO, WoW, GW, FFXI, L2, LotRO, WAR, Aion

Looking Forward To: SW:TOR

If you are looking for a new mmo yes

Put it this way, there are a lot worse mmorpgs out there, from the hack & slash monster variety Aion is one of the best.
