Well...not if you take under account that the game had already launched a year ago...

This is not a first time launch and as such i do not think it merits to be contrasted or applauded for merit in comparison to Real first time launches of other games.

I understand many of you are in love with its graphics, but graphics alone do not make a game, and would like to see AION western appeal in six months from now.

Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

Just want to add that yes 1 - 10 hours que times does suck dont misunderstand my post. However NCsoft did lock servers during pre-selection times with certain caps on factions and server population. For example I tried to roll on Zikel, however pre-selection had already gotten to a point where there were too many people and I was unable to create a character on Zikel. So yeah NCsoft did take measures to prevent overcrowding servers and they posted this online before launch. Ofcourse server ques cannot be completely avoided, however check out the servers before creating your characters. They are listed on their main website and will give you an idea of possible ques.

I would still prefer waiting an hour or two, rather then next month running around the Abyss and siegint forts with no ressistance like in Warhammer

Yeah, but then they unlocked them.  They had the right idea and then caved in or someone gave the go ahead to open them back up and we ended up with what we have going on currently.

I'm with you though on your last point.  I don't want them to start adding tons of servers but they could have done a better job forcing players to migrate to other servers.  We all know how stubborn and pigheaded some of us can be.  Sometimes a company has to give a little push in the direction they need customers to go for the better of the game as a whole.

...and yes, god knows I don't want the merry go round effect or empty servers Warhammer ended up having.

1.For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

2.To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.

The problem with this is (perhaps not at this early of a stage) but if the queues continue to exist in some shape or form, how is it you'll be able to organize anything guild-wise if people can't get online?  Aion is a very group/guild oriented game, especially at the end game.  Trying to do things in the Abyss when half your members are sitting in a queue doesn't win NCSoft any points.

Just in the last few years, I played WAR, AOC and LOTRO on launch day without EVER having to queue to log in.  You can argue the success of any of those games, but they all had very high initial sales, with plenty of people logging in on day one, no waiting.

You all do understand that NCSoft West set their server caps low to monitor the server performance and as a bit of time passed  they could assess the data they were monitoring, they found that they could increase the server caps some. They will continue to monitor it as the next few days go by and assess from their again.

As they said, the queue's will not be totally eliminated but they are looking at the server data and assessing ways to easy the queue times while keeping a balanced population and lag free servers.

It is a good launch it seems, except for the fact that they launched in Korea what a year or two ago.

So it is not fair to compare it to other games launches because this is more like adding language localization and opening a new server.

Even SOE did a decent job doing that so it's not much of a feat.

You know who Actually had a really good "true launch" (recently that is)?

Champions Online

Sure a few people had issues patching etc but that wasn't the majority and was fixed within a few days.

They've already said that they are pretty much at their limit to raising the caps anymore.  They are looking into character transfers but that won't be implemented for a few months.  Check Aionsource for the info.
