I first played the game yesterday, but today I'm having problems launching it.

When I attempt to start the game i get to the Turbine launcher, and after I enter password the game starts, but then immediately quits to desktop. I am running Win7 x64 and i have made sure that all the .exe files in the DDO:U folder are added to the firewall exceptions list, running in Vista SP2 compatability mode, and as administrator. Antivir is Avast.

Anyone had a simililar problem or have any ideas for fixing?

Shooting in the dark here, but does your Windows 7 offer an emulation mode when you right click the game's icon?  If so, maybe try that method and emulate XP. I know XP will allow things to be run in Win 95, Win 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 mode, hopefully Windows 7 does likewise.

I haven't any idea why it wouldn't work in the normal manner, sorry.

I had problems with crashes in Vista.

I read that it was important to NOT run as admin, but via UAC:

You can also try the "validate & repair" function in the launcher. Just click the small arrow above the "play" button.

The repair function worked for me..

I run Vista 32bit and run into crashing issues.  I goes to load the engine, the CTD.  I haven't found a fix for it yet, I find that if I try it again, it normally will work on the second or third time (crazy annoying).  One-time I had to reboot.

I know recently I updated my GPU drivers and it got a lot better.  Are you using the DX10 content?

Yea, I'm using the DX10. I'm starting to think this is an issue. Had problems with LoTRO for a while too, but those problems vanished. Managed to finally start the game earlier once, but had to tab out as i got an e-mail. After a couple of mins the game c2d and i couldn't restart it. But my gaming time for the day is finished.

Hopefully I'll get it to start again tomorrow and let my boss only contact me during business hours ;)

I have the same issue. I just run it a second time and it loads fine.

No clue why

What kind of graphics card do you use?  I also had issues with LOTRO.  I wonder if their engine hates the cards that we use.  I think mine's an Nvidia 8600gt.  I know I recently updated my drivers and that helped (with my framerate too, which is now a solid 60) , but every one and a while I still get a black screen CTD.

My issues of crashing were solved by right clicking on the game title on the Turbine launcher and running the repair tool.  Apparently I got a corrupt file during the peer to peer download and it did some additional downloading and fixed the problem.  Its been running with zero issues since.

By coincidence, I'm using a 1gig 8600GT and the game works fine, but I'm using XP.
