I've been reading some of the QQ/ flame threads on the Aion Server Forums, especially the servers with the most population and horrible wait times.  Many are asking for new servers to be rolled out to lessen wait times.

The thing is, I get the distinct impression from reading many of the threads that the ppl that are complaining about long wait times have no intention of leaving their servers if new ones are opened up, they expect the OTHER players on their server to reroll.  If enough ppl have that mentality, new servers won't matter, no?

If it was as easy as rolling to a less populated server, ppl would have done it already.  I've seen wait times range from 10 mins to 3 hours, depending on the server.

Probably not, the server I play on only had a queue the first day of head start and hasn't had one since then.  There aren't even 10 channels in areas it's only at 5 channels because it isn't near full capacity yet you come here and see people blowing their top because they say they've been stuck in queues for hours.

They want more servers because they want everyone but themselves to go to different servers so they can play on their server.  While I sympathize with those stuck in the queues it's getting to the point where I think they should rethink their server choice or simply move on.  If they give in and add as many servers as some want then we'll have a whole new issue when servers turn into barren wastelands due to people getting spread out, quitting, etc.

Probably not so much.  Reason I can't get in as I'm playing Asmo on couple of very crowded servers because my guild wants to be there.  Since there are other servers not suffereing from the load I figure eventually some folks will move over to them (heck, maybe even my guild) and it will all work out.

Meanwhile, I'll bear the pain of not playing yet.

The server I am on, I only had to wait once and it said 45 mins but only took about 20 mins.  I did see the screen shot of 7 hrs wait time, so it's true.  But no Q time for me

My server has a queue.  Sometimes it's up to 2 hours, but so far I've been lucky and haven't had to wait that long.

And if they want to cut the queues, there shouldn't be a need to reroll. Do what Blizzard did and offer a couple full transfer servers from high queue servers and a couple of fresh start servers. That means the full transfer servers would be only for transfers for the first 2 weeks or whatever, then open it up to the public. Let guillds transfer also and any transfers would be full EQ with bank and mail (not sure if they can do AH).

I think overall you'd see a huge improvement if they did that, but right now I think they want to see things stabilize to see what they have while new players get their keys and login.

That's about what I was thinking.  Fortunately, the wait time on my server isn't so bad.  Of course, I haven't used my retail game key yet--the game's still sitting unopened on my desk.  I'm still playing off my headstart account so the clock hasn't started ticking on the free 30-day playtime that comes with the game.

Its always hard with a new game to know how many people it will retain so they ll have to play it a little careful for the first month or two before adding new servers . I think they will need more .

The server I play on is labeled as high population, and only last night did I encounter my frist queue wich was a meager 8 minutes.

Ok, when WAR launched, you had like 928457861984957million servers to choose from.  I was stuck on a really low populated server for a few months and it was really irritating to see just one or two servers at "High" status.  It was a virtual ghost-town.  Then a few months later they offered server transfers! LOL.... a huge sign of epic fail... FFXI didn't offer server transfers at least 6/7 years after JP/NA realease. See where I'm going here?

NC probably learned from mythic's mistakes on making too many servers.  So, now, the game is condensed into less servers, but they are all high!  This means when time comes to pvp later on, an attrition of numbers will have thinned out a little bit, but there will still be a big enough player pool that you will always have an "enemy" to fight, duel, pvp, gank, whatever.... and that makes me happy.

What didn't make me happy was wandering around WAR servers with nobody to fight, and everyone just que'd for scenarios, (I have nothing against scenarios btw), but there is just something way funner about open pvp in the world.  WAR's open world was not fun only until server migrations in which most people went to the two main servers - I think it was Darkcrag and Prague that had filled up after migration.  Destruction ALWAYS had a long ass que.  My home wasteland of Hochland server was empty.  lol I wonder if my statue is still in the square to this day.  =P

I'm just thinking all these emo-asmodian people are crying about it.  War was imbalanced on the destro-side as well.  When my guild was installing the game I told them to go Elyos side because I KNEW this was going to happen.  My que's were 5-10 minutes at most from yesterday.  When I logged on for the first time (I guess while everyone was at school) and all the servers were "low", and I found it hilarous to come home from work later that evening to see the servers had filled up to "High" + que time.  This put a big smile on my face.

Did you read the comic book that comes with the Aion preorder?  Interesting take on who the "good" guys are and who the "bad" guys are   =)

Both sides are just as bad as they're good. Well i didn't get to read the comic book but i read up on some of the lore from the main website (that's before CB5 hope it's still the same)

New server wouldnt help get rid of the current queues. People complain and want them to increase

1.servernumbers - wouldnt help anything because nearly all of them wouldnt switch anyway so the queues would still remain the same while the new server is barely populated.

2.servercaps - then the server would just fuck up with too many people in the same small areas.

3.serverpower - they cant do that. Unlike WoW for example who did start with low caps because they used cheap hardware and then just "upgraded" their server with more recent ones, Aion server similar to other recent MMOs are hitting on technical limits, no upgrade can simply be done on that within a few days not even weeks.

But they still need atleast one new eastcoastserver within thisweek to catch up all the NEW customer from boxsales. Right now all eastcoast server have large or short queues but they still have queues. You cant just add all the new customer to those server, the playeractivity doesnt drop that fast. I dont know much about the european server they might need one new server too.

Though they allready announced they will add new server this weekend, I wouldve expected them to add the new EST server far earlier.

But they dont need far more than one new server for each of their reagions EU and NA within this week. Everything else would be useless overkill. Maybe in the next two weeks one server for each region again, if the boxsales raise.

I prefer the way they currently handle the situation. Its not a lack of faith no to the contrary they seem to have faith enough into their game their expect most people to forgive these shorttime issues and still keep on playing Aion. They add server just when its neccesary not just to please people when they complain because of pesonal preferences and their lack of understanding of the current situation.

Right now the afk-shops consuming unnecessary capacity (they could solve them with NPCs that spawn in your place and you just log of, other games have done it before and the server have allot less stress to handle and keep more active player running) or RMT business (goldseller goldspam) is in my opinion a far bigger and longterm problem.

I have to agree with the OP.

Most of the really popular servers are popular for a reason (guilds/players wanting to play on the same servers as other guilds).

I'm sure NCSoft is monitoring the player numbers and I bet if everyone was distributed evenly queues would hardly be an issue.  Opening 1 more server is smart as I'm sure some players will be more than willing to move away from servers that have regularly long queue waits.  However, there are still going to be a large portion who are too stubborn to move(and unfortunately blaming NCSoft for his/her willingness to wait those awfully long times).

Limited time free server transfers would help redistribute the weight.  I have a couple of friends playing on the server and I don't plan on leaving unless all of them leave.  If we could all pick up and go to a place with no wait time it'd definitely be a reasonable option.

Well most of the problem is the dam shops. I log in and i see ppl with shops open and all they say is "No Que time" and have 1 item for like 10,000,000. NC really needs to fix this. What is the point of having an auction house if you can sit and sell stuff in your own shop and take up space for ppl who really want to play ??? Good thing i only got a 60 day card

Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR
Playing Aion / Champions Online / LoTRO

Waiting for FFXIV =))

You know what the best part of that was?  After launch they even added more servers because of the long queue some were having on a select few and they apparently thought they were going to be the next big thing.

It's been an issue in a lot of newer mmos where companies go stir crazy on server additions but with Warhammer it was downright comical how overboard they went.  Especially considering the main focal point of the game was supposed to be RvR/PvP.
