Hello fellow Aion players.

Just wanting to know what the class is like to play? I have played a ranger in AOC and they were kind of gimpy at top level.

ATM i have  a level 10 sorcerer and just levelled a scout to a ranger at level 10. Trying to decide b/w the two . Which has more survivability and easier to level?

Cheers.

rangers are behind assassins and mages in dps, theyre a more flexible class then either and still more dps then tanks and healers.  for soloing you cant beat a spirit master, its pet tanks, sm gets heals for the pet and still has almost the dps of a sorc (just the sm himself not counting the pets dps, pet + sm = on par with the sorc for dps)

AoC & Aion are completely diffrent,  i can't understand why you want to compare classes from other games.

Play the class you enjoy playing.

Ranger fires arrows, Assassins use daggers and swords, ....etc

From what iv'e played in Aion its very much a rock, paper, sicissors game,   how fast you are on the keyboard, what cooldowns you have availiable to you, what equipment you are using.

The great achievment of this game is the balance,    when you fight 1v1 on the same class it realy shows the men from the boy's.

I feel that some will whine about there class being crap, i'm affraid the blame will lie with the person pressing the keys not the class.

Well i am just level 14 and from 10 -14 has been a hard slog as i see every other class zoom passed me and kill things with ease!

The problems is, your a scout with melee until level 10 then basically from 10-16 you only have two ranged attacks so it takes forever to kill mobs, other people are slicing them up and burning them down as you kite them around and wittle down there health.

Apparently it gets better at 16 when you get another ability and once you hit around 25 your a killing machine, but jeez is it tough to get that far.

I heard you shouldn't use bow much at early levels considering arrows are not cheap when you don't have much income.

If you like range dps (melee type) then go for Ranger. IF you like range dps (magic type) go for Sorcerer.

Im loving my ranger, though yeah the earlier lvls (1-16ish) would have been tough if my GF didnt play a chanter.

he is just starting to come into his own now though and honestly cant wait to PvP with him.

I have a lvl 13 ranger. Totally worthless IMO. At the edge of transition between melee and range. You are neither GOOD at either of them and in PvP anything slices you into pieces. But once you get sleeping arrow and some quality ranged dps it will probably be alot better

I'm playing a ranger right now. Currently lvl 20.

At levels 1 - 15 you are really underpowered. Your DPS doesn't come close to other classes, but of course you can still safely kite mobs.

At lvl 16 your DPS starts to improve a LOT with Arrow Strike.

And again at 19, you're granted a major DPS boost through Stunning Shot. Really does a lot of damage.

Yeah it's a little tough to start out, because we don't start off with bow skills. But when we do gather up enough skills the DPS is good. Right now at lvl 20 I'm really satisfied with my ranger. Don't just say it's crap because you didn't get past lvl 1-15...

I agree with that - I just hit 18 and I'm starting to feel better about things. Like you said, 10-14 was a bit of a slow trudge... After 16 I was starting to feel the improvements.  Can't wait for 25+, it gets funner every level.  =)

I've been told several times in Aion your either born to be a Ranger or are Targets. Not sure if they were braging or serious.

I disagree.  I played both of them to mid 20s and a ranger can out dps a sorc when it comes to a single target.

The ranger is the fastest class for killing a single person.  What ranger doesn't have is a steady DPS.  They can't drop one target in 3 seconds, turn around, and do it again.  Not unless they have a really lucky crit stream.  The sorc on the other hand is a bit more steady.  Their targets don't die as fast, but they have a more constant damage and you're not crossing your fingers to see who wins.

So what your saying is Mages will be the first class besides Gladiators to be nerfed.

DPS are always the first class to be nerfed..in any game. Sorcs will be first.

I dont see where Gladiators need to be nerfed.  I've never lost to a gladiator in PvP.  I had no problem dropping them as a ranger or sorc.  In fact, I've started a gladiator alt to try and find out why they're so popular (aside from the awesome looking skills).

If the nerf football comes flying around, I imagine it would hit spiritmasters first, then ranger, then sorc.

My ranger ate sorcs for lunch.  He just couldn't do it without 2-3 minutes in between each one.  If it were two of anything you had to run.  Why nerf him?  Because you have almost no chance 1v1 with the ranger.  A templar would be about the only class that could take one.

Why nerf SM?  Because they have flying pets and binding wings...  They can tank you in the air with a mob, and half your flight time.  Pretty much have to run from them.  Good luck PvPing a class that can outfly you and doesnt have to be within range of a spell or an arrow to fight.

Got a ranger level 26, they are burst dps classes, a focus of 2 rangers bring someone down before 2 sorcerers do, specially if they are lucky, sorcerer has better CCing and more constant dps though.
