what time is the game compared to the movies?

World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around.

The game starts out at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring and moves forward - with the epic book quests that allow you to, initially, aid the fellowship.

Does this mean the game will end according to the movie? and can you take parts in the epic battles of the movies?

the game doesnt "end", you do a lot of quests that follow the story line of the movies (and books) and you sometimes work alongside the fellowship, though. (if you do the book quests) they are always adding new content (quests, etc.).

so you don't get to take part in the huge battles of the movies?

well, i got to level 47 and i never did, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen. the level cap is 60 (if you have mines of moria). someone else that knows more will have to answer that for you...or you could just search it on google or something.

The movie left out much of all three books.  So you will find many new things in the story that, if you did not read the books, will have no idea about.

If you want to play the "movies version", this isn't it.

Yep totally agree. Apart from a few points where you catch them up, you are basically following the fellowship.

Whilst you don't get involved in the more famous battles ( mainly because the story in the game hasn't progressed that far as yet!!) you are involved in other battles like helping the dwarves retake moria.. helping the elves of lothlorien.. helping aragon reforge the sword that was broken etc etc.

So basically there's plenty to do you don't need to have read any of his books to play the game i know and play with a few that have only seen the movies and are amazed by how much more tolkien wrote and how indepth his books are compared to the films.

A group of us killed that huge squid thing in CD which took 45 minutes including clearing the area. Was that not similar to the squid in the movie? Also, may of the areas in the game have quests which then lead to a short movie similar to things in the movie.

The current content only gets to their entry into Lothlorien after their trek through Mines of Moria.  So none of the large battles are in the current timeline of  the game yet.  Not sure what plans they have if any to include the sieges later in the story.

That is because Peter Jackson is an illiterate hack, who rewrote much of the story.

I think Jackson did a pretty good job myself and have been reading Tolkien lore for 40 yrs.  The depth and scope is huge.  Just how much do you think they can do with the time allotted time allowed for three movies? They had to exclude some things while still making the movie cohesive for those that have not read the lore.

It has to be true, i have internet links.

Ask Glorfindel why the Elves were at Helm's Deep.

My gripe is not with what was removed, but what was changed and added.

It's funny how you criticise Jackson but you didn't even bother to watch the film properly. Jackson places Haldir and the Elves from Lorien at Helms Deep, not Glorfindel and the Elves from Rivendell.

I agree it shouldn't have happened but you need to get your facts right before you criticise. Personally i think he did a brilliant job and to compare books and films is always a mistake as the two mediums are entirely different. I thought the replacing of Glorfindel with Arwen at the flight to the ford was a masterstroke.

I made two points with one statement. One about changes (Arwen for Glorfindel), and the other about additions (the Elves at Helm's Deep). It's your reading which needs improvement, not my viewing.

Why did you say 'ask Glorfindel why the Elves were at Helms Deep'? I read that as meaning you thought Glorfindel was at Helms Deep, because that's the way it reads. If that's not what you meant you need to learn to write clearly or people will always misunderstand you. Why did you even mention Glorfindel? I think you did think Glorfidel was at Helms Deep, you just can't admit that it is you who are wrong.

Do your homework before posting in future, or be big enough to admit you made a mistake.
