If you think there is only grind then your not enjoying the game so why playing?

Yes sometimes you can be bored from playing but because it's asian doesn't make it automatically grinding.

If youve put in such massive amount of time thats maybe why your hating it. Most people do not play from the word GO on a closed beta, you have probably put in more hours in Beta than any normal person that buys the game will. Someone like me who plays games to relax after work maybe playing 3 hours a day, which is a lot, will never play as much as you. Some people play even less than that. Maybe your not playing games for the enjoyment of them but instead to do something else, it seems your treating it more like a job than anything else.

I can just say this...after playing Aion for a few hours last night, seeing half a dozen or so 'Sephiroth' variations running around, then logging off and uninstalling the game...I LOVE AION.

I really do.  Not because I plan to play it, or think it's very good, or even fun at all.  I love it because it seems to have drawn all the 13-year old Naruto-obsessed anime nerds to one game.  I'll just chalk Aion up as a holding-tank for jackoffs that annoyed me in other games, and go back to other, better MMOs.

Lol trust me Slick. I only play a couple hours a day. But its been available many days so it gave me enough time to realize it is for people that want to waste 6-7hrs a day playing an MMO. If your casual Slick, I would advise against getting any Korean game. Stick to GTA4 and when APB comes out (PLEASE SOON DAMN IT!).

Im not saying Aion is bad (which is obviously why im getting so many people butthurt because it sounds like it). Aion is a great MMORPG, second to WoW (just because nothing this generation will top it). The point is, all im saying is there is a ton of grinding and alot of people will not enjoy it.

AION lvl cap can be reached pretty fast its compareable to WoW on that matter. Typical ASIAN grinders take YEARS to reach the cap not a couple of months of casual gaming.

 

So comparing to ANOTHER slow grinding NCsoft game makes this game have NO grind? That makes sense....Comparisons just never work when you are trying to make a legitimate argument

Lets me say it one more time:

Asian grinders take YEARS of hardcore grinding to reach the cap.

Western MMOs take a few months to reach the cap with grinding concealed by quests.

Aion takes a few months to reach the cap.

The thing that asian mmos are infamous for is that you need to kill an increadible amount of mobs to se your xp bar go up for about 5%. Thats not the case with Aion.

Western MMOs include KILLING so yeah its grindy too, but you level up often and reach the cap in a few months. And thats happening with AION.

Both western and asian MMOs have grind! Get over it!

Im totally done with WoW never want to go back! I am happy to play Aion just now but im not at that age any more where im obsessed with one game like i was in my early twenties so im happy to take breaks to play other stuff like PS3 etc I guess im looking at it from the prespective of accepting im not going to be first to do anything im just plodding along in the game behind most others that take it seriously because i have more going on in real life.

Anyway im enjoying it just now and if in a months time the time sink is just too much for me ill stop playing but for now its nice enough.

Yep, I made the same mistake and pre-ordered Aion. This game (in my opinion) is a really polished Korean grind.

Much as I hate to say it, this game (in my opinion) is mediocre at best, and a boring grindfest at worst with a very limited combat system. The grind (in my opinion) is made longer and more tedious by the simplicity of the combat.

I will say that (in my opinion) the character customization and graphic detail is polished nicely enough to get people to buy the game and be enchanted with the looks. After the infatuation phase, this game is really (in my opinion) too simple for lasting appeal.

Gameplay wise its very similar to the countless F2P and otherwise asian mmos. You are pretty much hiking from hub to hub doing the same few quests over and over usually fighting the same mobs with different colors or names. Pretty much what I felt too so far and in the 2 OB weeks before. It is nice, but kinda dull. I mean sure you can say every MMO is about kill X amout of Z and they did some effort with quests. But hearing about the big westernization they wanted to attain, I can't see it. It is just a polished asian grinder indeed. Not bad, but not SO much more than all those F2P games like Perfect World. (And in Perfect World you can fly endless! =P)

I feel it is sort of uninspired, and I also find the graphics just so-so. Many textures are quite low in detail. The combat animations are cool and the fashion is... well fashionable. At least compared to the western dull-fests aka EQ, EQ2, WOW and the like.

But I tell you, this is the most fun I have had with pure LEVELING since .... since probably never before. This game is the new WoW and deserves to take its throne so far. Hell knows how I feel at end game though, but I'll get to that in time.

NCsoft has just seen another MMO bite the dust. Dungeon Runners, the casual experiment from their old Austin studio will be entirely shut down at the end of the year. This is the third game NCsoft has recently shuttered from their North American operations.

There you go, someone read my thoughts. I am lvl 14 and I call AION - WoW 2. It has the same set up as WoW after release, even landscape graphics feel the same. Same type of transport system (eagle v flying spirit, wait till they add a boat). In other words - AION is a WoW with latest graphics on mobs and characters, landscapes still look flat and cartoony.

This will be a new WoW for kiddies. You grind quests in AION same as you have to in WoW, and actually any other asian mmo I've played. The only difference - AION doesn't have an item mall, no microtransaction model. I am giving AION a try myself. But I am just having fun, not rushing anywhere. Gonna do some crafting, make some money on little a-holes who rushes through levels and just enjoy the sights.

Super Asian Grinder? Whats Super Asian about it? I didn't see anything super Asian. Everything is pretty much just normal Asian. :-D

The addictive side of MMO gaming is like any other addiction and gamers are rabid here. The only good thing that Aion has going for it is graphics. However, graphics alone do not make up for shallow, craptastic game play. That's my opinion which by the way means as much as any one else's; it's just an opinion.

The point though is he is correct, that's usually what happens on this site in particular or do you disagree?

Every new game that looks pretty and isn't by some indie developer gets hailed as all that and a 'WoW killer' (I mean seriously, why don't we just rename the site 'anti-wow.com').  Then 6 months later it doesn't turn out to be all that for a variety of reasons and the cycle continues.  I'm not even talking about Aion in particular, just new games in general on this site.
