is darkfall worth it?

depends entirelly on who you are. I enjoy it...but my friend doesn't. My clan enjoys it...but other wont.
I'd say its worth the shot if you have the money to invest or if you like skillbased games (it rocks for skillbased gamers) and/or enjoy a nice big explorable world. PvP is somewhat optional and you can avoid it (to a certain extent) but it is one of the best parts of the game.
So yeah...it depends on what kind of person you are and what you are looking for in an MMO MMO wish list: -Changeable worlds |

Its very much worth it. Out of the hundreds of EQ clones on the market, Darkfall only has 2 games that are almost like it (EVE and UO).
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. When will developers (and players) become sane? Now go eat some grass like everyone else. |

In its present incarnation (despite the improvements), no. It's still uninspired, narrow and vanilla. |

If you are coming from the modern conventional mmo then Darkfall will be a big shock to the system as the gameplay is completely different from WoW, War, AoC etc.. This will either effect you in a positive manner or you might not last long enough to get to appreciate the gameplay and you will quit within a couple of weeks. If you are bored themepark mmos, levels and quests and if you love meaningful twitch based pvp and the idea of a huge seamless world then you will love the game beyond any other mmo you have played. If you want to raid dungeons(WoW style, dungeons of a different manner do exist in darkfall) and you like everything to be at your fingertips with instant travel and signup queues for pvp battlegrounds or if you hate being killed in world pvp then you will hate Darkfall and probably join the rest of the people who think it stinks. Personally I don't think I will ever play another level based themepark mmo in my life after experiencing a skill based game. The PvP is the best I have ever experienced and dying means a lot. The mobs are fun to kill as you have to aim etc so personally I don't get bored of it even though you are probably repeatedly killing the same spawns nearby where ever you are based so you can skill up and earn gold etc. The patches and fixes for the game come at a good rate and much content has been added and is planned for the future. The content being added also seems to indicate the devs are listening to what is said on the forums by the community. On the downside, bugs are widely exploited by people and the gms do very little to fix the problem(are not able/not allowed) while the devs communicate nothing at all. They rarely give any information about what they are planning and they will never ever reply to any of your questions. The forum mods are unpaid and unprofessional and it shows, they have very little real knowledge to offer the community above what your average veteran knows. If they hired a Community Manager to deal with the community and if they were more proactive about disabling exploits then I would have no complaints about the game. |

Thats the whole point here. You dont "sell" Darkfall as a normal MMO. You cant make people play it and make them belive they will be heroes. Only a special kind of player can endure the Darkfall gameplay. This is not about good or bad, its just the way it is. Same as with movies, some people enjoys watching a Tarantino movie...and some just cant. They will leave the cinema after a few minutes. |

Darkfall has and had big issues but those issues continue to get addressed every patch in good ways. Hopefully after this next expansion it will shape up to be one of the best games on the market. |

For a sandbox game like DF that focus on PVP, you cannot rely on the vote at mmorpg.com. Those who didnt play can vote so dont count on that if you see more no then yes. Try to read the views from players who played the game or go to the official forum to ask your question. Played DF trial for 2 weeks none stop. Check out my pvp video during trial.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJnU_JEqKRM |

Bach was revolutionary for the music. Problem , people of his time didnt know that, only a small dedicated audience anticipated how big his way of music is and all music of western civilization will be tuned according to his system. Many genious concepts and people aren't for the mass. The mass don't even know today that musical scale is tempered according Bachs design and concept (maybe they don't even know who Bach is) The scale used prior Bach is btw more pleasent to the ear but Bachs tune is the right one to design and play music with. Darkfall is design according to the right rules of an MMORPG and has no faulty concepts pleasant for the ones like instanmt gratification, like being told what to do and being handhold. Not pleasant for the mass but the right way to do. -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Imma let you finish but Bach was one of the greatest composers of all time! As for your faulty idea of what the right rules of MMORPGs are, here's how it works. Whether or not MMORPGs are designed correctly is determined by their user base. If a game is designed correctly, it is successful because a lot of people play it. Right now, Darkfall is about as successful as someone riding a bicycle at the F1 race--I wouldn't even consider it a try.

Self-delusion runs deep among some fans around here. If nothing else, many threads here are often good for a chuckle.

It was me that compared Darkfall with a Tarantino movie before, as an example : ) Many people walk out from the cinema you know. |

I played Darkfall for 3-4 months after launch and I had a ton of fun, it was completely worth it! I left waiting for bug fixes and the transfer to NA, but after reading the forums (transfers are free and not having to purchase the NA version), I will more than likely re-subscribe. (maybe even today) |

It depends on your style of gaming. There are many things I loved about DF, but the one thing I could not deal with anymore is the 1st person view. I love FPS games and have no real reason to see my character in one of those games, but in an MMO, it just feels like something is missing if I can't scroll in and out or use different camera angles to view my toon. www.agonysend.org |

It depends on what type of person you are I suppose.
For oldschool MMORPG gamers who have been sick of WoW since it came out, its great to see some fresh ideas. For people who love meaningful PvP, it is also great.
For people who enjoy freedom, it is great. For those who don't like to take penalties for dying, or who enjoy heavily instanced worlds, not for you.
It's probably the best PvP MMO on the market at the moment, about to get its second free expansion, things are getting interesting.
Also, something else you should know. There is a hive of very VERY angry and violent trolls on the MMORPG boards who will try to DESTROY any topic concering Darkfall. They've been here for 3 years, and they used to vehemently swear Darkfall was a fake game, now they just resort to trolling any topic. Don't know why they decided to hate the game so much, but there it is. You'd think they'd support one of the only non WoW clones on the market... |

The simple answer would e "Try it for your self" I played in beta then played at launched and I loved the game. It was much more enjoyable than other MMOs that I have played. The only reason I am not there now is because I play with my brother and he is not into that type of game so back to boring EQ2 for me!! I want to pull my hair out on a good day with EQ2 and I never felt that way with DF. The world in DF is huge.
