I'm one of those that keeps trying to play Eve for small periods of time. About 1.5 years ago I hooked my PC up to my 34" HD TV and it works pretty well for most things. (Get to have my TV be the main center for A/V stuff, works well in a small apartment.)  But the last time I played Eve was about a year ago. And the foremost problem I had was being unable to read anything. It doesn't help that I have bad eyesight. But as I recall the only settings were you could set font size up to 10pt font and also a "small/large" option for the UI in general or something like that. But it still didn't make the text large enough to read. I'm just wondering, did they by chance fix this problem?

(Grumble nevermind human avatars I need to read the screen grumble.)

No changes to font sizes in the last 3 years or so. So the answer is no.

I wouldn't call it a 'fixing'.
Using something they way it is not intended is not really problem anywhere but on your side.

No, you can't set larger font than 12pt in option menu.

My side? Take it easy man. I was just asking if there's a larger font size setting now. I got my answer from the first guy.

I don't believe the "your side" comment was meant to be condescending.  It seemed to me he was just saying it was a problem on the user end, and not CCP's problem.  IE - it's your problem because CCP didn't design the game to be played on a TV.  Therefore, they really have nothing to fix.

I take it easy, no worries.

Just find it odd calling it a 'did they by chance fix this problem?' when there is no problem to fix.

Might be wrong unintentional use of words only though.

Yeah, I am pointing out technical nature of the things.

No offense was intended.

I, and a few others I know of, have had the same problem.

Solution? Change to another resolution, or a smaller screen.

Unfortunately.

Suggest they fix it, maybe they'll become (more) aware of the problem.

Also, yes, I would call it a problem. It may be working as intended, but when users are unable to play Eve in a high resolution/big screen, because the font becomes smudged and unreadable, it is a problem. At least from my point of view.

A friend of mine can't play eve because she can't read the font at 12pt.

Eve is a great game, and this seems to be the only real problem I can find with it. I just wish they'd take some initiative and fix this. I mean, it can't be that hard really, they've already got other font sizes.

Bring it on down now.

God knows we've asked for better fonts often enough.

I would also recomend (if havent already done) you to talk with the support of CCP, not just send a ticket but try to talk with em, it's not a hard fix to do at all.

Apparently this is not that easy.

CCP made an effort to increase the font size but there is an issue with true type fonts and UI windows.

I would say it would require re-write most of the UI code and that is something not going to happen just because of few people with large screens or eye disorder.

Yes, but in this case, the problem is caused by user using unsupported technology.

EVE was never intended to be used on non-standard screen size or resolution.

Also, humans were never intended to fly.  They clearly lack wings, and therefore should stay on the ground where they belong.

However there are somethings that work even though its not intended and then those that just plain don't work. I play on a 46" TV for EVE at 1900x1080. Now it works fine but I can't use it past about 6 feet with out the words become a line and I have good vision. Fact is Video games/computers are designed to work with you sitting about 1' - 1.5' back per Square foot of monitor realestate. TV is designed for as high as 5'-6' back per square foot. So you have have two choices, get with in the distance ratio of a computer or deal with the words being too small in a lot of apps. EVE's not the only one that has this problem.

OP here... Two days ago I reactivated my subscription (previously 21 day old trial character) for a 3 month subscription. And yesterday I unhooked the PC from my living room TV and moved it onto a desk. I've got it on my old 19" monitor. Haha, monitor technology has changed so much in 8 years. I might have to get a bigger widescreen monitor, maybe a 20". It's much easier to read now at any rate.

Now I just need to figure out what I want to do with my character. Training up learning skills for now and doing PvE missions while I re-learn basic controls.

Maybe you could use one of those wireless adapters to switch you screen you have on your desk and TV without moving your computer.

It is a bit expensive though..
