Macro's well thats a whole different debate and one that we are likely to agree on. I do suggest saving your allowance up and spending $5 on a 5 button mouse though. |

WTH is this? Sounds like a daycare center with all the crying. Most of you complain about GG but the only problem is, you will be crying in a month when theres spammers and bots running around and nothing to try to keep it down. Most of you who are worried about the root kit are usually downloading 3rd party programs or shit your not suppose to anyway. So cry more about Game Guard dont buy the damn game but all we constantly read is blah, blah, blah, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, lemme get a napkin imma tear up if I dont get my way. Figure it out. |

This was probably pointed out before, but I didn't bother reading every post here, but the main problem with ANY program like GameGuard or Punkbuster or whatever, is that they only protect against whats known, same thing for virus scanners, and by time they update the found, something new has already been created. I.e. they're useless. "Life is not judged by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." |

Easy version for you. There are bots and hacks even with GG. It is trivial for hackers to disable GG. It is completely ineffective at what it is meant to do. If you think otherwise you are frankly dillusional. All GG actually does is hurt legitamate users. GG is an egricious peice of software that is quite probably illegal in the US and the most of Europe. (my guess i that's why it has been disabled). It poses all sorts of security risks and 'breaks' all sorts of software and hardware. Whether you call it a rootkit or not is up to you but it runs in kernel mode and hooks into all sorts of processe it should not. If you are happy with that great. Nice job crying about the crying was the hissy fit above meant to be ironic too? I suspect not. |

Originally posted by MMO_Doubter All I read is that they aren't "featuring Game Guard". Given the weasel words devs tend to use, that could well mean it will be installed but not activated. It's pretty late in the day to be changing the disks going to retail.
As I said, as of two days ago, after the launch patch, it is not being installed. The GG folder in the Aion folder remains but GGs registry entries and system files/driver are not installed. -------------------------------- |

Going to have to agree, I am glad NCSoft dropped the GG. When I saw this in the CB, I wasn't to pleased. Again, nice move on their part. |

So are you saying if one buys the retail game, GameGuard is still in there but not being incorporated\interfaced with? If that is the case, I retract my raised ale flaggon! If it is out of the install alltogether, my raised flaggon of ale will still be raised. One of the major reasons why I won't be trying out Aion is because of GameGuard and all of its rootkit-like attributes it has. All that raising and unraising - better watch out, you might spill some. And my flagon will be right under yours to catch the spillage. |

Hey, you got to be as willing to call these guys on the good they do as the bad, they certainly do enough of each. ;-) -------------------------------- |

If they do then I will cancel, if I don't cancel due to this miserably poor launch of half day queues. In the meantime though, give them credit for removing it as loudly as you would give them criticism for including it again in the future. -------------------------------- |

I really hate to say it, but I kind of wish now they left in now. With all the people tearing apart their systems trying to get the bloody thing to work for the first time they use it, the population trying to log would be reduced and I would be skipping around in game smelling the flowers instead of watching some waterfall seeing as I went through all the pain a few weeks ago. There's a moral in there somewhere surely. Aion's Fables! |
