I showed WoW to 10-ish people, 5 of them subscribed and 3 of them stayed subscribed and continue to play.

How about you?

Two.

One is a Buddy from work, and plays very causally, plus the lack of internet for a while slowed him, so he hasn't got a toon to 60 yet.

The Other was my Best Friend, about 4 month after Launch.
He still plays, raids 2 nights a week... where as I have quit WoW for a few month now.

13, over a years free sub time, plus the 1/3 of a year free from crashes etc in the start. not bad actually. nearly all of them still play and I may have forgotten some. I we are to include the people that those recruits got in...pshh well over 30

Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man!

Just a little background, I come from the rural south so I haven't really had luck finding friends who are also gamers...

I have more nerd friends (the friends that really matter) online spread across several games than I do have nerd friends irl.

I signed my brother up for the zevra mount and later on he aided me in my adventures on the auction house with some gold he..., uh, acquired. Thats about it really. My sister ran around the nelf start area on trial but she still just plays runescape.

I don't really like wow but I keep coming back because of the devastating lack of viable alternatives and the small percentage of the game's population worth knowing. Wow is like the myspace of mmo's these days- trade chat beats twitter anyday. Wow also provides that undeniable short burst of shallow self satisfaction when you loot epics (a purple, how fabulous! super!)

Me and some rl buddies used to run a pretty good clan in L2. After people stopped logging in for different reasons, 5 of us just moved to WoW.

Comparing MMOs with burger companies-the epitome of logic.

My bro, his wife .. they are on and off.

My 2 kids but they are not allowed to play during school year (only summer + xmas & long holidays).

So 4 total and i pay for 2 of those accounts (my kdis) when they are active.
