You vets really should check it out. Dont wait months for a free trial or you will miss that special feeling those first weeks after launch. Its raw like SWG was at launch but its a pretty darn good game with lots of potential. best $50 Ive spent in a long time. |

I looked at Fallen Earth, but in the end, the FPS combat just wasn't for me. I've never enjoyed FPS games of any type and, while I saw from your review that you're not a fan of them either, I don't think that's a hurdle I'm going to be able to get over. I hope the game does well, though. I think the post-apocalyptic theme is tremendous terrain for an MMO, and the more variety there is, the better it is for everybody. I honestly hate fps combat. having said that Im actually enjoying Fallen Earth. Its more of a hybrid 3rd person shooter with rpg specials in it. Im concentrating on being a master crafter so combat is just a means to an end for me. Sorta like placing harvesters down, sometimes when your collecting resources you will need to kill a few things. So Im working on melee skills, doesnt require bag space to hold ammo. fyi the graphics are decent. It pretty much looks like SWG on Lok. I at first saw screenies and though eww thats pretty bad. But its actually pretty decent. and it fits within the setting of the game. It feels like a post-appocolyptic world. Im really enjoying it |

If Fallen Earth is like what SWG pre-CU was like, than I don't get why everyone fondly misses pre-CU. --- If you don't like FPS style combat you can always go melee. |

I see ZERO similarities between the two. I understand the initial logic and analogy, as I made it myself, but after spending around 2 1/2 months ingame, I fail to see the real comparison. One had a lot of enjoyable features and a meaningless world, the other is half theme parked with an actual goal at the end(pvp in FE's case) The crafting system is time based, no skill involved. So regardless it depends on what you want to make. You want to make a motorcycle, welcome to 32 1/2 hrs(Real time) or 25(real time, in science lab). This game is fun to a point, but honestly the crafting is quite boring to me(working on a dune buggy now, am its going to take me about a week or a bit more to complete it starting from total scratch) |

Originally posted by plaguess I am really happy for you that you found a game since Pre NGE. I found a home in Eve and LOTRO since I left SWG for good last December of 2008 and i had stuck with it since beta. That was a rough ride. I have been watching a live feed on FE. The feeling of exploration that I can see and the in depth crafting system that I have read about on FE makes me want to try it. I can see the similarities in "the vibe" on this game. I hope they do well.
Happy days for you sith! |

I loved so much of what this game was shooting for. From the theme to the crafting to the factions. The one thing I could not get over was the FPS style of the gameplay and it really cut my time in beta very short. I hope it does play with similarities to Pre-cu for many people though.
I wouldn't say it is close to what pre-cu swg was though. Closer than most anything else, sure. |

No player housing or cities and the skill system isn't as good and the combat really sucks and so do the graphics. |

It's really nothing like pre-cu. Other than most of the gear is crafted by players. But I think the crafting/gathering system in FE is pure crap. Not to mention the game is an FPS with characters that move like brick turds. |

I guess not everyone will like FE. Some make rash judgement from closed beta (the game is a 100% better now). Others see a few screenshots (which are incredibly deceptive, it actually looks pretty good) and say no thanks. Honestly I feel sorry for any ex swg vet who doesnt at least try Fallen Earth. The crafting is as close to SWG as we are going to get. The complexity, the open worlds, the skill system, and the total freedom just doesnt exist anywhere else outside of EVE This is the first mmo since SWG pre - nov 2005 where I find myself playing for 5+ hrs a night. Im cutting into my sleep time but its well worth it. The game is awesome for sandbox skill based fans |

lots of ex swg players are in Fallen Earth. It feels like a majority in fact. Mention NGE in chat and watch the hatred for SOE fly. link to a post on FE forums from hundreds of former swg players.... http://forums.fallenearth.com/fallenearth/showthread.php?t=15283 |

I've been playing EVE for the last 3 years. To me, it's the perfect Pre-CU replacement, it's being made by a company that actually cares about the game and their players. The only beef I have with them is that DUST514 is (as far as they've announced) console only, but the player base has been so vocal about that I can't see them not adding a PC client. The way CCP treats you is VASTLY different from the constant abuse, lies, and doublespeak of SOE. |
