I am posting this just to see how balanced the servers are going to be, I am going Elyos for multiple reasons, but I want to see what everyone is going to pick. :) I didn't add "Both" because most people, even if they make characters on both sides, will pick one for their main to be on. :)

 Your poll will be biased towards Asmodians, however, the servers will be fairly consistent and SHOULD be balanced overall, considering the pre-emptive steps NCSoft is taking. More people like glowing red eyes and claws and back hair though. (:

I would prefer to be Elyos because I am sure that the more mature crowd will be upon them. However, my friends are forcing me to go Asmo. So be it I guess. Everyone wants to be the "cool" or the "badass" race... Just gotta suffer the general chat spam and crappy pick up groups.

I actually played Elyos in beta and I found the atmosphere to be much more refreshing.

That whole back hair thing turned me off right away.  Haven't logged into an Asmo since and probably never will.

  I wanted to go with the Elyos but most of my friends wanted to go Asmo so..... but i do plan on having an alt so i might go Elyos on a different server.

To be honest i think that both races are lame as hell.  I just prefer the asmodian world setting, the soft blue glows over the bright white and yellows of the eylos maps.

I hope that this doesnt turn out to be a bunch of asmodian raids in the abyss chasing a few eylos.

What were they thinking making the eylos look so metro and non threatining in this market?

So many routes they could have went with good angels vs evil angels......

Scary numbers. Lol. I can see some unbalanced PvP already occuring.

Ya, I know what you mean, I saw that and I was like, man...it looks like one of their ancestors mated with a chicken. Surprised they don't have beaks to go with those chicken feet.

They've really been enforcing server faction populations, though. The speed at which they opened and closed Asmodian character creation on every server yesterday makes me thing its a pretty small percentile margin that they permit between the factions.

We might see people being -forced- to play Elyos upon release.

I totally agree with that.  I know that in its Asian markets, they've had the opposite response in that Elyos have been heavily favored there.  Being that this game was developed with world-wide appeal in mind, one could say they succeeded to whatever degree.  That said, they already spent a lot of time and effort in make the NA/EU version much more attractive to the West, and could've modified the aesthetics for the sake of achieving a more well-rounded population.  There's no reason they couldn't have given the Elyos some glowy-eyed badness and such.  Also worth noting; while I'm thrilled I won't be playing with bunnies, it's an additional draw to Asmo that players can flip when they jump, where Elyos cannot.  Another minor aesthetic that sways some.

Regardless, no reason not to believe that Elyos can and will look absolutely badass in their own right.  I'm sure there will be plenty of fear and respect for them from the other side... especially when they're running away.

I don't do back hair or blue skin. The blue & green only skin color options killed it for me.

I'm not sure what game your playing but you can make some real evil looking asmo if you take the time.

i had to go Asmodian, because they Elyos look like a bunch of fruitcakes o_O  honestly, i was gonna suck it up and deal with the lameness that is Elyos because my wifes WH guild is playing that side, and one of the guys called it angelic , and I told her that was my nail in the coffin.

Elyos, I'm hoping the more mature crowd will go there.

Elyos don't look like fruitcakes, haha, you can make them look that way, but the truth is that they just look like normal humans. :P and to be honest if I saw an Asmodian in real life, I probably would just stare at them and label them mentally as a freak. But for all pertensive purposes, Asmodian is definitely the cooler race, although Elyos at high levels get some kickass armor and wings.

I hate to get into stereotypes, but man you just filled one.  I know I don't understand the context of what some guy said on vent; I wasn't there.  However, the guy stated a very plain and clear fact which is that Elyos do look "angelic".  I mean, is someone on the opposite end going to get offended when their asmodian toon is called "demonic"?  Oh, naw, because clearly that's acceptable and cool.  Frankly, I'm sooo glad that I'm beyond an age of being insecure and wrapped up in what someone else might think of me if I play the lighter, cheerier side of things because if not, I might let my experience be ruined by the rampant immaturity on the asmodian side, too.

It's a sampled statistic of a larger population, but to some extent it still works.

You can actually get an Elyos to look very manly... You may have to break a few brain cells and try a bit harder to accomplish it though. :P

Yah but it does give me a general idea, and they really don't look any different than the asmodians, besides skin color, one hair style, claws and back hair. Body wise both sides have the EXACT same options pretty much.

   If I was going to buy this game, which I'm not. I would go with the Asmodian side. Their city is so much more detailed and better looking. Plus I'm sure it would be the more mature side. Like WoW all the five to twenty year olds will populate the alliance side, so that means that all the little kiddies will be the Elyos.

Looks pretty even so far. Elyos for me.

I'm planning on playing both.  Had a chance to experience both factions during the beta and really enjoyed the difference in the quest progression to Ascension.  Can hardly wait for noon tomorrow!

Basing server balance by a poll on a forum of which maybe 1:1000 people will actually vote on, is a bad way to come to conclusions.

Server balance will be fine because NCSoft is smart and taking control of it.
