Every time I look at the pre-select server status page, half the servers say "Elyos only."  I have NEVER seen a single server say Asmodian only.  Now this is completely unscientific as I have only looked at the page a handful of times over the past 24 hours, but my initial impression is the numbers may be a bit grim for the Elyos side when it comes to PvP.  Anyway, after seeing this, I deleted the Asmodian chars I had created and switched to Elyos since I like to be the underdog.

I don't think the EU servers are locked either way so far.

well it on the AIon website, but i dont think the elyos are low in numbers anymore.

Hey I gave elyos a shot and really the whole time there I felt I should of been skipping with a basket of flowers singing how great life is and I'm better then everyone else. Also the lore: Book of Elyos just felt so arrogant that I couldn't help but roll asmodian just to slap the spit out of an elyos player. Well, I don't pay much attention to the European half (c'mon, I'm American.  I'm pretty sure Europe is fictional.)  But 30 minutes ago half the NA servers were Elyos only.  Right now everything is open, but that just means a chance for those who had to make Elyos chars to go in and delete them and make Asmodian chars.

Anyway, I stick to my initial impression that the "bird-feet-back-hair" race is more popular than the metrosexuals.  I don't know why though.. we're FABULOUS!

Everything I've come across says 10% which isn't bad. So even if Asmo get's locked it's not like Elyos have to get that many more chars before it opens up. When it's flat out open that's usually a good thing because you have to imagine it's fairly balanced. I think it's going to work out pretty well, especially in the long run. Everyone was bitching last night and what did they do? Servers opened back up. I also believe if you do see an over crowding on one side people will start switching sides. Elyos aren't "that" funny looking. They actually are more detailed looking if you ask me. To be honest the Elyos have better skin choices. You can get this red color that's pretty sick looking.

Wouldn't that just lock it again?

 I find this weird cause any posts I see about characters and what not, even picture threads, I see more Elyos toons then Asmodians. 

Guess I must have missed something. Oh well, luckaly that have a balancing system in play.

Considering the korean servers which display the percentage of each race for each server on their PowerWiki, it seems it locks when it gets to 54 vs 46%, looks like a 5% difference threshold (considering all rounding possibilities).

I am gonna go out on a limb and say that is because more Elyos playing people care about how their characters look and want to show them off.

This is really doing my head in! As someone who made an Asmo character and seeing countless threads about this "issue" i went to the servers screen and went to create a new character on each server this afternoon(EU)

2 servers were locked so no more asmo could be made

3 were locked so that no more elyos could be created

and the other 8 or so were completely fine for both sides.

There isnt a massive unbalance like people are making out, even on the forum polls on aionsource most servers are coming out at roughly 50/50.

I wish NC would put up a diagram of the pop of each server and up date it every day.  That would give us a better feel for the overall pop.

I know Korea has something like this in there powerbook.

I rolled Elyos because I'm just not a huge fan of the whole wasteland scene.  I like to frollic through my zones with a basket of flowers, tyvm.
