Thats funny, 3.5mil subs in Asia, 400k+ pre-orders in the west. Im thinking no. as far as Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa go, what your not realizing is that NCSoft does not Axe their own games. Let me explain, NCSoft did not make Auto Assault, NetDevil made it, NCSoft only published it, NCSoft did not make Tabula Rasa, DG made it, NCSoft only published it. When a game that NCSoft invested money in but did not create, they have a very short leash. NCSoft DID CREATE AION, and they did a great job with it and they will let it run as long as they can find a way to do so. Before anyone tosses in "DG was bought by NCSoft and became NCSoft west", doesn't change the fact that DG spent 7 years of money from NCSoft before NCSoft Hired Rich. DG made Tabula Rasa, Not NCSoft. by the way, I mis AA and TR :( But glad I only have one more day till Aion!!!!! www.90and9.net |

Its a good question. If it goes the same way as AoC and WAR it will probably be axed. Tabula Rasa atleast was a little differnt from WoW. Its crazy that people actually believe in the 3.5 million number without any real source. Whne Blizzard announces 11 million subs and clearly defines how they count everyone is sceptic. But alot of people are buying 3.5 millions for Aion even if Ncsoft denies it. What are thoose 3.5 million and where does the number come from? If WoW = The Beatles |

If you think thats a reasonable question then everything is a reasonable question. Its a flamebait question, which Im enabling by commenting on your post.
Did Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa have an established playerbase like Aion does? Lineage 2 is a similiar game with similiar circumstances (released in Asia, successful and then released in US). Have they canned L2 yet? Are you going to fail your college mid term like you failed that Art Project in the 3rd grade? Are you going to drop the ball on the project your boss gave you like the pass you dropped in your highschool football game? |

Dont hijack this thread into some lame discussion of WoW and its playerbase. |

When do you think that Blizzard will axe their unannounced MMORPG???? |

Shame on everyone who thinks OP's question is a good question. This is a waste of a thread. I was shocked to see how many people thought it was a fair question. What is wrong with the world today. |

The one thing that irks me about NC Soft is their quickness to kill games. As a consumer, that bothers me. Not to mention their quickness to use the "ban stick". For example, I was banned from Aion because amazon.com screwed up and reported that I, along with others cancelled their pre-orders. If it were true (which it's not, my order will arrive on the 22nd) I still find it bad practice to punish someone for cancelling their order. Sure, they sorted it out for me - but still... it keeps NC Soft as one of the publishers I just don't trust. Which sucks, but I guess if I want to play Aion and GW2 I have to put up with it.

This is possibly the stupidest question I have seen asked on here in some time :p (and that in itself says something :p) Aion is one of the most successful online games in the world already, even before it launches in Europe and the US, so it isn't in danger of being canned anytime soon. Sometimes it amazes me that people have so little knowledge of the rest of the world. Even if they only were to get 50k subs out of the west it would still be worth it for NCSoft to keep it running here since Korea keeps it in cash anyway, the western market is just gravy to NCSoft in regards of Aion. |

I don't see Aion getting axed as did Tabula Rasa.
First off, we all know what Lord British did with Tabula Rasa.
Garriot had over 5+ years to finalize a product, which 1. didn't meet any of the standards he set out to establish... 2. was bug ridden even after release, and was never patched properly... 3. Garriot had become an old man only interested in running away with money...
Richard Garriot had over 100s of millions of dollars at his disposal to create Tabula Rasa, and the final product was a shame and pity considering the money invested. Not to mention his sly act to sue NCsoft for their decision to lay him off was a note out to all developer companies to not hire RIchard Garriot in any MMO market. That's the kind of person Garriot ended up to be, and thus the reason why a product in the image of such a lowly man "Tabula Rasa" was axed. Obviously, Garriot is never going to work for any major MMO company ever again, unless that is he decides to create his own company. It wouldn't have been any better with a company like Blizzard. They would have axed Garriot and Tabula Rasa, which by the way took more money to keep the servers running than actual profits.
Now...Auto Assault, I wouldn't know the whole deal with that, since I never really paid any attention to it, nor did I have any interest in that game. GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month? |

Given the history of NCsoft, i think theres a better chance of aion getting the axe in the future over AoC getting the axe. Just based on company histories. However do i think that the game will get the axe....no too big of a hit in asia. They may allow it to turn into a gold farmer paradise later on in its life though. Who knows, the endgame might be a huge hit in NA/EU. Still too much unknown. I dont think it will compete with GW2 in any way either. Oh and i know every game under the sun gets 1mil+ subscriptions in asia, you buy a time card once there and they count you as an active player for life, they do this for every game. Just like AoC, and Warhammer, due to its large release sales it will have the money to patch itself crazy and add more content, It will be around for a while with the money they made off launch, despite what subscriptions number may look 6months to a year after launch. |

In light of the realtive success of the game in the East you still have the nads to say that ? Also, consider Lineage and Lineage 2 are still kicking with under 100k subs in the west, combined from both games -- riding on the back of the respective liscenses in the East -- you are a fool. Plain and simple. |

I guess asking if they would axe their biggest current revenue earner would seem reasonable. Good business move right there I sometimes wonder if some people on this forum actually think before they post. people like this are so desperate to stir the pot, they will do so at the expense of common sense, logic, or even the facts. They are jokes. Just like the republican party, they will say ANYTHING in the hopes that the masses are dumb enough to believe their lies. unfortunately for them, plenty of us are not that stupid. |
