Just curious if there will be customization for this game.  Example: WoW

Custom Buttons, bars, etc.  Anyone have any insight on this?

I don't think you can but I believe the UI is fairly customizable.

The UI is very customizable, what the OP is asking for are mods that adjust or negate game play elements. And i hope they never add the support for them.

please explain how the UI is very customizable. All I ever saw inway of customization was the ability to change the "highlights" colors(ice was my favorite).

Most if not all things you see on your screen UI related can be moved anywhere around the screen and resized in a manner you use with windows.

As to the OP's question, I think it was in the Ten Ton Hammer interview, but I may be wrong, but no, there will not be the WoW-like support for add-ons.

More than likely not. I think I read somewhere that Incarus sees allowing addons as an admission to a half assed game.

the ability to move things isnt really ui customization just ui relocation. One of the things that bothered me about the ui was the very small "target window" and the gray chat background.

Ahh, well, guess I differ in opinion as moving things around to where I want is customization to me.

Having something that:

  • Sends SMS  to:
    • Your mobile phone.
    • Your girlfriend.
    • Your friends.
    • Well, the whole phonebook.
  • Makes calls to:
    • 112(whatever).
    • Neighbourhood watch.
    • The fire brigade.
    • All close police districts.
    • And a number of your choice.
  • And last but not least least.
    • Sends a tell to people in the raid so they can call you idiot in both chat and on vent.

...when you have taken aggro.
That is not residing at the lower side of the bar for UI customization either.

You would only need to be able to change one thing, like opacity, for it to be UI customization.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Found this thread at the Fallen Earth Forum about scripting.

Link

I haven't played the game yet, but being able to make things bigger and smaller would be nice, also even translucent to some extent.  I loved the map feature in WoW, coordinates and such.  I am getting ready to order this game, but I am going through all the forums to see how the players are reacting.

Then again, its only open Beta. I hope they dont pull a stunt like Champions online.  Massive nerf bat when they went live.

I hope not but thats just my opinion. Addons start to become mandatory for this or that then the whole thing just becomes bloated.

They are not alone.

Going by the comments in this thread, People need to play the game and use the GUI before commenting/speculating. It is extremely customizable. It even has things like auto innovatory sorting, window and frame opacity settings, 3 different skins, ETC..

Stop speculating and calling fault if you have not used it.

if you are talking to me. I have used it. i was in Closed beta through until a week or 2 ago.  The Ui is ugly and clunky and unintuitive.

To add, you can move, change the size, shape of any UI element, there is also a built in quest helper and tracker, player way points on the map, 3 GUI skins, all windows have opacity settings for the frames and windows, and you can change the height and width and location of all GUI elements, auto innovatory sorting and tab creation, skill-bars are created by simply changing the size of the container...

Apparently, you just looked in options,  seen chat colors and stopped there. But somehow your going to tell the rest of us that the UI is not customizable, and that I guess we need a scripting API.

I am really trying to not be rude, but you have zero to add to this conversation.

no not at this time, and i hope it does not get implement other than possibly graphical changes but please god now API like wow, that ruined wow for me because now everyone is required to have certain addons to raid and such otherwise they get kicked.  Addons just dumbed wow down even further than it already was, atleast with FE you need a brain to play.

umm, no he is not liying, you can change the size of all windows, I know for fact because for one i play the game, 2 i've already customized my ui and RESIZED the windows to my liking.  So i would argue that you obviously are talking about what you do not know.

Yep, consensus is that you are an idiot. How does that feel? Oh wait, I know exactly how that feels.

I agree.   I'm annoyed to no end when people whine for add on support because they want to circumvent game play mechanics.

omg!  how can they expect me to search for rare nodes?  I dont have time for this!  I need an add on that tells me exactly where they are because I'm too lazy and selfish to play the game as the dev team intended.

Its been my experience 99% of the time a game will give you whatever you need to play it, no real need for add ons.

i am not asking for addons that give you an advantage over other players.  Just enhancements to size, colors, bars and maps, that's all.

Anyways, it really doesnt matter.  The game will have them eventually if it becomes popular, they always do.

Probably not.

Skins will become really common though. I'm working on one and someone already released one. They are extremely easy to make, they are just cut-up .tga files.

I don't know if I can resize bars or not.... I might try that later. :) Probably not, but it won't hurt to try.
