Got to hand it to NCSoft. They've put out some tasty carrots for us and boy did we bite... I rarely if ever preorder (cannot recall any game that I would have pre-ordered) but it was definitely worth $10 bucks to secure the name and server that I wanted. Now take 400K preorders at $10 -> 4 million bucks. Come to think of it, that's 4 million extra bucks that came in while costing nothing extra to NCSoft. |

My preorder cost 5, and went to the total cost of the game. |

Err, how did they make extra money from pre-orders? I paid $59.99 for my collector's edition. If I bought the normal one I'd have paid $49.99. If I went to a store on Tuesday and bought my copy, I'd have paid $49 or $59 + tax. I paid less to get into the game early, is the point. So yeah, I'm confused.... Where'd they get the extra 10 bucks? Edit: Oh yeah... no matter what version you get, if you pre-ordered you got to enter the pre-selection and head start. Is OP talking about the collectors edition? Because that gives you extra stuff too... |

Is this a rant? I'm confused here. |

I suppose he could be, but he specifically mentioned pre-select, and somehow that it costs $10 extra to do so. Still lost on the "extra $10" part. I will add though that I've never paid for a CE before. This is one of the cheapest, and simultaneously useful CE's I've ever seen. I got the digital one, so no silly poster or figurine for me (useless anyway) so mine was only +$10. I will, however, get stuff for every char I ever make in Aion - stuff that is actually useful. Nothing game-breaking, but still worth the money. "The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it."

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

I hope you also realize that NCSoft does not see a dime of the pre-order sales until the game is actually purchased from the retail outlet you picked up the pre-order box from. Providing pre-order boxes actually COSTS NCSoft money. They receive zero monetary compensation from the pre-order boxes they provide to all of the retail outlets. Bioware did not make Knights of the old Republic 2. |

And that if you opt not to play you can always cancel your purchase and the vendor charges a restock fee of $5 which is absolutely unheard of after letting you load and play the software. I guess every game has its share of people that cant let go. That see the general population of their current game and its server beginning to dwindle. Eventually they wake up and come over and then they will be all bitter because they are playing catch up with all their friends; whom are now burdened with the time and effort to level and help a lackluster player with no vision or for sense to go and honestly explore a new title. Desperately gripping the old, scared of the new even though evidence is all around them that they are missing something big and grand something that will probably, no definitely bring them more enjoyment then the scrap of a title they still call home. Pity them like wraiths lost in burned out chernobyl they will wander the ruins wondering what has happened never fully grasping the majesty and fun that is AION! |

Well that's my 2 cents worth, your mileage may vary. |
Well for the first time in 15 years of online gaming I paid for a game pre-order. I guess that states my opinion of the game. I also had no problem creating my Asmodian character on the server i wanted with the name I wanted. Same thing with my Elyos character on the server I wanted with the name I wanted. Worked out quite well so I am a happy camper. And personally I've found the community of both factions to be decent people. Every game will have some asshats in it. But for the most part I've found the people friendly and willing to help. I'm looking forward to Sundays head start and hope to see you all in game. Oh yeah btw, they don't make a extra $10, lol. Fly safe and sleep well!! I'm old not dead. (Nov8tr is pronounced innovator) |

I thought there were only 300k Pre-orders not 400k? |

Wait... I spent $4 million on this game? I want my money back... "Granted thinking for yourself could be considered a timesink of shorter or longer duration depending on how smart..or how dumb you are." |

Ok everyone, here's the plan. Don't tell this guy that for his $10 box at best buy he can bring in the reciept and get that off the cost of the game when he picks it up!
Darn you, NC Soft! How dare you take that extra money from us! I put down $49.99 for my preorder! |
