So, recent information has placed total number of AION pre-orders somewhere in the ballpark of 400,000-a healthynumber to be sure.  Current number of servers is 12(similar to Korean launch)  This means that per serverm there will be roughly 33,000 players.  If only it where that simple.  Fact is that the majority of a game's subs do not come from pre-orders, but rather from people who hear about the game and go pick it up after release.  Assuming there are 400k more subs after launch, servers would be forced to cater to 60-70k players-which is unfortunately unrealistic, assuming server load is 7-10k.  Hopefully NCsoft will respond quickly and setup more servers quickly, but even that has drawbacks-since the players who got to pre-select will nto be able to choose the less populated servers.  For those who have pre-ordered, will you be waiting for that server increase?  Im kinda on the fence, since i would prefer to be on a mid pop server.

It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay.

I prefer high population servers as long as it doesn't hinder server performance.

The main reason for this is to get a group whenever you want/need it and there's ALWAYS pvp going on.

I do hope they add more servers soon though, and I know they will, it's just a matter of when.

Well, there's actually 24 servers for that 400k number since it's including NA and EU.  Speaking of which, the servers are already filling up in some cases, but it seems a temporary issue.  I'm also sure that if it's a serious problem, NCSoft will open more servers.

Anyway, their site's a great start: na.aiononline.com/en/news/preselection-server-status.html

Also, the pre-select and headstart players have the advantage of starting and playing before others who wait.  If they open more servers later, advantage: new players.  It's just kinda the way it is.  Nevermind that some players on the more crowded servers may want a fresh start when new ones open...

Considering there are only six servers per coast I am going back to what I originally said.

They need more servers.
