I think the graphics of the game are kind of sub-par, and it kind of bothers me. I'd say it's the art style, but that's not really it. I've seen concept art and I often think the concept art looks a lot better tahn the final product. I'm not sure what exactly bothers me about it. It just looks too plastic-like or something. In a way, I think SWG's graphics are better (even though they are six years old). Then again, the art style in the concept art does seem slightly less cartoonish than the final product. I'm not sure, I'm hoping the game looks a little better by the time it comes out. I realize they may be doing this so that more people can play it, so it;s not so demanding in the pc req. department. |

Actually the world in ToR is quite amazing looking. I really have no clue what you are even talking about. |

Hmm after reading the OP i went back and watched the videos to see if maybe I was missing soemthing. So far the graphics look fine to me. Perhaps the OP has seen soemthing more than I have. Or perhaps my mind makes allowances for the fact I am looking at a video shoot of ingame that is then being played over my computerand compensates for that.
Oh and if the graphics are 'dumbed down" so that more people can play the game that is not unusual. Blizzard stated that as one of the reasons WoW looks the way it does when they launched it. Eq2 has two different versions of players character graphics both for that reason and for cultural tastes. Magic is impressive, but now Minsc leads! Swords for everyone! |

I think they look good considering it is beta still, there is still and there will be plenty of fine tuning. Take a look at some screen shots of AoC 18mnths before release to what they turned out to be. Touching up is something that will go right on for months to come. Just consider development time so far and predicted to go. Shouldn't pass final judgement yet.

And just for comparison. SWTOR City (Alpha).
Star Wars Galaxies City (now).
SWTOR Character detail (Alpha).
SWG Character detail (now).
Decide for yourself.

Yeah, what was I smoking? lol. haha.
I'm not sure what it was but I think it might have had more to do with character faces than the graphics themselves. |

I think it's just the art style, not the graphics some people have an issue with. I mean, not everyone is gonna like Edvard Munch's expressionist art style, yet some think it's great. Great art really is in the eye of the beholder. Eitherway the level of detail in this game is top notch. |

Im still looking forward to this game..but I agree the grahpic style isnt for me to..i think vistually what strikes me is...the top heaviness of the character models..they appear huge at shoulder and small at waist..much like maybe a childs toy..that in turn affects how they animate...so for me i prefer realism but its not a huge thing the game if its good will still suit me fine. |

A beta is there to test the games functionality not it's looks. Most graphics and hardware issues are worked out first and then the world is built using their shaders an PP effects. Once they show us what they're working with in a beta thats it for graphics. Unless they randomly decide "hey lets use the cryengine 2 to make our game and push the release date back by 2 years !!" Then you may see some new graphics. but other than that not much is going to change graphically. Except maybe some fine tuning of shaders to make them more hardware friendly(but the change wont be visually noticable). EDIT: and Age of Conan was one of the few wierd ones because it was supposed to be a graphic marvel. They wanted it to be the best looking MMO to date and its living up to it's name thus far. They were definitely trying to take advantage of all of the new hardware and software available on the developers end(such as DX10 and the new GTX series cards back when they were new). So AoC is one of those odd stories of a game company changing its graphics around a beta period. MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions. |

A little bit on the bright and cartoony side. I don't really mind, I just care about engaging gameplay and content to keep me busy while I play. Isn't that all that really matters in the grand scheme of things? Momo sucks, I have proof. |

They're artist's renderings. Those aren't game graphics. The comparison doesn't tell you anything because the final game won't look that good. You have to compare screenshots to screenshots. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

I took these from the tab labeled "Screenshots" not Concept Art. Wanted to also add, the Coruscant city shot was taken from Pax. It was game play footage. Same with the jedi, that's been in there many flashpoint demos. All gameplay, so it's not concent art. |

Not again. No more so than any other game. Do you remember when KOTOR came out? The graphics weren't that great then either but the game is widely considered one of the best games ever done. And frankly, the game companies have been too obsessed with graphics and not obsessed enough with story. In Silentio Noctis - A place for direct and honest discussion about modern gaming |

Those SWTOR shots are actual in-game screenshots, not renderings or concept art. |
