You start out as neutral with every class! |

(Edit) Imagine you start out as Sith Warrior. You are warrior of the sith empire but your aligment is neutral at start. You can slowly shift towards good or evil but you will always serve the empire. Same with the jedi and every other class. You can be evil jedi but you will serve the republic. |

Aw, awesome, I hope they reveal more about that information. Either way, the Sith Warrior will still be part of the Empire and not the republic from my understanding. |

I also think it's a bit stupid but nothing is yet 100% written in stone (I think) So as far as I know you can't switch sides but it could still change. |

Nah I could easily see a Jedi who fights for the republic but uses "evil" means to attain his ends.
There have been examples in the star wars universe as well. |

I think they have already decided that you can't change factions(judging by the separate classes for each faction, which I think is a mistake), and I think that not being able to change factions is a huge mistake seeing as changing factions was kind of a big deal in Star Wars. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

If allowed it might lead to people changing sides like socks. |

They should make it difficult to change sides but possible. |

I would be fine if you could switch sides once at certain point when doing your class story. I myself would very much like to play BH on the republic side. Never really liked the dark side story in KotOR and have only played it through as light side couple of times. |

After reading the darth bane novels jedi are just not as cool as they used to be. (for me anyway) |

Is this really such a big deal though? I think most people probably have an idea of where they want to go with their characters before even starting. I remember when I played KOTOR, each time I started a new game I thought to myself "I'm going to be REALLY EVIL" this time, or "I'm going to be really good!". I pretty much decided which path I was going to take from the beginning and followed it. |

While I agree that people already know what they want before they begin their journey, I also would like for them to implement (somewhere down the road) a way to switch sides. I only see this happening once a year or so, if at all, but it would be a good way of keeping with the lore. Otherwise, if you ARE going to be a Dark Jedi, then I propose that your quests begin to evolve from that of a Republic standpoint to a Sith standpoint, as maybe a double-agent or something. Just mulling that over makes me want to take a deeper look into the possibilities. I mean, from a lore standpoint, Darth Revan goes from good to evil to good, and his story's been accepted by Lucas as "true" lore. Of course, that's despite what Daniel Erickson (Principal Lead Writer for SW:TOR) said in an interview, but maybe it was just an oversight on his part (can't find the link anymore... it was a good read where in the end he mentioned something about Mandalorians). I'm just ready to test this mammoth! THE Rooster Nash |

Really, I seriously want to be given the choice to switch sides, just ONCE, never again should the option come up. Although I don't plan on switching, Empire all the way. I like options, not just for myself, but others as well. Light, Dark and Gray as far as I know only plays part in what abilities you have and how companions/people look at you. I could only see a faction switch in a later patch, where the choice appears in a big part of the story. |

I agree. I'd love to see them implement a faction change, but I would like to wait for an expansion for that to happen. I imagine their intentions are to keep one on their class-specific story arc, and that's cool with me. I just wish I could be a Sith Smuggler. THE Rooster Nash |

There is no such thing as a Jedi Knight that happens to be evil in the Star Wars universe. Those that turn evil think that they have outgrown the Jedi Order, and that the Jedi are wimps. Even Dooku left the Order eventually and became a Sith. Even those that claim to be Jedi who are in the Order just to mess it over, aren't really Jedi. Not really. You can do it in EQ2, and it doesn't despite the fact that its one of the best series of quests in the game. Most people just prefer to play one side over the other. In Silentio Noctis - A place for direct and honest discussion about modern gaming |

I did the betrayal quest in EQ2. It didn't really matter since the game wasn't really set up for RvR, but it was one of the best quests in the game. It was also long, and hard to do. |
