honestly, this kind of stupid thread is just a waste of time. What does it change? 6 months from now we will see how the game is in the market, not now. Fortunately the haters can rant what they want and make up numbers about cancelations, fans can say its the best game ever, nothing of that changes anything. |

Yeah what I meant by that is the game just isn't enough for me to dedicate another few years too when we will be getting games a lot more up to date over the next 2-3 years. A few friends of mine were in the same boat (pre-ordered then cancel) I work at gamestop and we have had several people come in and cancel their preorders (about half the people that actually ordered it).
It just seems like there are a lot more people canceling preorders of this game than normal.
I can see that. The thing though is I think that is a toss up because the choices that exist today are few and far between. You have the WoW expansion which as I've said new paint on and old house but that being said some people may decide to wait out the old house until something that looks closer to what they want comes out. But the gamble with that is you invest even more time into a game that will eventually lead you back to feeling like a waste of time. Now Aion could also lead you to that same point but I'd be much happier investing time into something new and unknown than going back to the same old thing, but that's just my personal view. I too want the next gen stuff as much as the next person but until then I'll get my fix in a polished game with a new take. It should be as simple as we like MMOs, we know what we like, we have choices. We play what we like and we don't play what we don't like. What gets silly is when everyone talks about what they won't play and they don't like. That energy could be better spent talking up the games you do like to play so that the devs get that positive feedback. Believe me there isn't a single person here who doesn't know the negative feedback because that's like 99% of the posts. You like it? Pick up the game and pay the subsciption until you don't. Don't like it, find something else. Not rocket science. So you had to put down a few bucks for the beta...whoopie. But anyone who is cancelling or signing up because of the feedback here is pretty ridiculous. The only way you're going to know how you will like the game or not is by YOU playing it. |

Well anyways only time will tell how many people will resub after the free month that comes with the game lol. I will be waiting for the next MMO |

I think thats the boat all the current mmo's are in, they are getting that hype driven initial sale then the nerfs and the SSDD syndrom sets in and your going ooo new world, new lore, same stuff I did in the last ten worlds. CO nerfed itself out of a lot of potential resubs, aion tried to much to copy wow. Yes there are a lot of preorders but preorders do not say a game will do good, we the modern gaming comunity are all about the shiney new stuff. How many people out there complain about wasting the money on a new game a month after launch? I hope Aion does well, I hope every mmo does well, but I just won't be playing them. As to why we hates the hot girls, a friend of mine made a point about another friend of mine. Friend 1 said: "I don't get why you guys play male tunes, I'd rather look at a hot girls backside while I play." Friend 2 replied: "And I'd rather not get hit on by every 15 year old with an anime fetish." Hence why the chicks be to hot, cause to many guys are playing chicks these days, the gender bending is a bit scary. At the right venerable old age of 26 I find I ignore the scenery all together, it's mobs, quests, and money for this old monk. |

That sounds like 300k pre-orders just for Europe as the interview only talks about European release. Would love to hear about numbers from their official website rather than from an interview though. |

That is because players preordered simply to get beta keys and had no intention of buying it in the first place. They saw it as a free game to pass the time with a $5 deposit. The consumer is catching on to the "pre order now and get into beta!" marketing campaign. So preorders really don't mean anything I guess.
Where did you get your data from??? These numbers are sales that have paid "full price" for the game. I paid full price a couple months ago. |

1. It is only pre-orders so no big deal. 2. 300k for the NA/EU players base is nothing more than a drop in a bucket. It means that 300k is pretty pitiful compared to the entire NA/EU player base. It is nothing to brag about. |

That kind of silly curiosity in which you'll gain nothing from the information, but you still would like to know it anyway, and it's not like you HAVE to know it. |

Lol... This thread is entertaining. Want to sum all of this up in one word... OPINION. |

Someone predicted the Bears to win the superbowl too and it was someone far more credible to the NFL than anyone here to the MMO world, so I guess I should just stop watching football. I will be one of the ones playing after a few months, not really worried about it. |

Originally posted by Locklain . . . and your point would be? Subscriptions numbers have become nothing more than a penis waggling-contest. No one on these forums is an investor so why do you care? If the game has enough people playing to keep the game alive that is all that matters.
So true but look it how Blizzard markets WoW. If you look on their game boxes they put the number of subscribers on their for marketing purposes. To me and you and other people out their may not care about subscription numbers but to mmos companies it is a big deal. |
