Well, not quite served yet, but they've taken your pre-order and given you a bit of an appetizer, all 300,000 of you!  In an interview published at GamesIndustry.biz, NCsoft West's Véronique Lallier reveals that Aion pre-order sales have been stellar, having sold 300,000 units so far.

What can I say, not for me, but good luck anyway :)

I don't see all of those buyers staying with the game after a few months tops.

I pre-ordered it myself but after playing all the betas I am not going to follow through with my order. I'm sure there are a good number of people that are doing the same.

Good numbers kinda of. I preordered the CE and plan on playing til FFXIV comes out. But didn't War have like 700k and AoC had like 700k as well ???

Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR
Playing Aion / Champions Online / LoTRO

Waiting for FFXIV =))

Am I to understand that this game hasn't been released yet? With the number of screenshots on this site I honestly thought it had gone live. Now I'm thinking that the majority of the screen shots are part of a clever marketing ploy aimed at adolescent boys who want to create large breasted avatars with their belly buttons showing. Imagine my surprise.

It's already been released in Asia for a while.
This is the North American release.

Aion is like a really hot chick with no brains.  Fun to look at but thats about it.  The sex can only last so long and then reality sets in and you soon find yourself wanting someone with substance.  I havent seen or heard of too many relationships lasting with just looks alone.  This game is more of a booty call.  Hit it once and bail.

I'm willing to bet you're wrong.  Until something comes down the pipe that brings a completely new model that can actually appease these next gen gamers that are unhappy with the current model (And that looks much later than sooner) then Aion is one of the most polished newer games out there even if it is a new take on an old model.  That's more than WoW can say as even with their expansions it's just revisiting the old and making minor content changes using the same "engine" if you will.  Combat is the same, instances the same, phat loot is the same, all of the things that you will utlimately be reminded of after a few months of the expansion being out will remind you why you thought about leaving before the expansion came out.  It's just a way of prolonging the inevitable.

Now an argument can be made that Aion will get there too and while that may ultimately be true the difference is that with Aion we don't know when that will be and how that will look.  WoW is a known where Aion is an unknown and there are many more willing to explore the unknown than to tread back on the same old path they've been up and down so many times no matter how many curves you try to create in the path.

When did men stop liking hot chicks? Ive seen many posts about how the female toons in Aion are too sexy. Lets all petition game devs everywhere to make fat, ugly female toons that wear burkas, then these sensitive men will not be so offended.

It has to be true, i have internet links.

I know right, I guess people will just complain one way or the other, and there is nothing to be done about it.

Yeah what I meant by that is the game just isn't enough for me to dedicate another few years too when we will be getting games a lot more up to date over the next 2-3 years. A few friends of mine were in the same boat (pre-ordered then cancel) I work at gamestop and we have had several people come in and cancel their preorders (about half the people that actually ordered it).

It just seems like there are a lot more people canceling preorders of this game than normal.

That is because players preordered simply to get beta keys and had no intention of buying it in the first place. They saw it as a free game to pass the time with a $5 deposit. The consumer is catching on to the "pre order now and get into beta!" marketing campaign. So preorders really don't mean anything I guess.

I played Korean OB and retail and the C Aion upto NA launch,my wife still plays Korean retail,Aion has some of the best longevity in a game yet, either you havnt played endgame Aion or you just don't like pvp.

As for the numbers I kind of understand with all the ppl on one hand saying its great and others saying its the worst thing ever people are naturaly wary of buying it,especially after the TR thing.

Those numbers are actualy pre orders bought and paid for.

This is a complete and utter lie, no major retailer had cancelations in that order and you know it.  This lies about working here and there just show how desperate ppl are to bash a game, lol, a videogame, its sad is it not?

Playing: Aion, World of Warcraft, Dragon Age Origins
Waiting for: Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy XIV

How did I bash the game? All I said was at my work I have had to cancel a good number of pre-orders of Aion. As someone said before... a lot of people probably just preordered for $5 so they could play the betas then cancel it.

Wether alot is half who knows but the fact alot are isn t saying good for the game. It will do well but I see alot of people bored in a month or 2.

No doubt thats what some did but NC has never measured pre orders in that way so I don't see why they would start now,if they used unconfirmed numbers then yes you would see AoC and WaR type numbers.

I don't care though if people have issues with Aion,I love it an thats all that matters no amount convincing is going to change some peoples minds.
