Hello all

I have been an Eve player on and off since 2006 or so.
I have two characters, with my main one being Ikki Phoenix.

I am planning on coming back to Eve next month and now that I have taken care of many personal issues that had me leave Eve a few times,I plan on staying in Eve for good.

So what I am wondering about is whether I should keep my current account/character or take advantage of the 21 day trial and start brand new.

Any opinions are appreciated

Thanks

Unless you have less than 2M Sp or so on your old character, it's not really worth starting a new one.

Don't worry about what people think, they rarely do.

I would think it would depend on whether you plan on specializing in a certain area and if you already have SP in that area with another character. One character for combat and one for repairing and industry is always a good idea. If you plan on playing for a while, you could start a toon that focuses on a certain area and see how usefull he is after the trial. If your just planning on a jack of all trades character there probably isn't much point.

I'm kind of in the same boat as the op. Is there a way to actually check how advanced my character was, like see how many
SPs he had to know if I should start with the 21 day trial or not? I played for a few months 1 or 2 years ago and when I left I think I had it training something to let me pilot T2 cruisers and I know I could pilot a T1 battleship.

Unfortunately not. To be able to log in to your account, it has to be active.

However, you could send a request to EVE support. There were some cases when CCP activated the account for limited time period in order to re-activate the subscription with PLEX or such.

You could submit a support ticket asking for a few days of free game time to check how the game has evolved and check your character skills, and then re-activate it.

I am interested in PVP and missions mainly.
I am also interested in moving to Fountain in the long run

Depends on your old character's skill levels but for the most part I don't think it is worth it.

There's really no purpose to having more than one character per EVE account.  (outside of market or other specialized, low SP alts) You are able to train up in any skill, and there is no penalty for training up something previously and deciding not to use it.

Odds are whatever you trained before will be applicable to your future training goals, so unless you're talking about a trial account you never really played, its probably best to reactivate your old account and go forward from there.
