As the subject  says ive been out of the guild wars loop for quite some time. Started dabbling in the games again this weekendand im curious to those of you who have been a bit more informed then myself what carries over into GW's 2? from my understanding i thought i saw characters wont but from what i recall stuff like pets and armor sets carry over into that hall of monuments thing if uve played Eye of the North? i find GW2 and FF14 to be the two primary games i await with great excitement so im just tryin to dig for a bit of info to tide me over while i progress through GW's on a few different characters.

so you will see the same monsters and stuff

not really that much else if you think about it

arenanet is dropping the whole quest system, adding new playable races making the world persistent, and largescale pvp

lol not entirely sure that helped out a ton to my original Q :p i sorta picked up on the lore from the trailer and what i vaguely recalled from when Eye of the north was released when i read up on that.  Hoping to order up factions and eye soon to complete my set so ill be all prepped though lol

At this point in time, nothing has been said exactly what will be carried over, but  from my understanding names will be reserveable via the Hall of Monuments, and some things like titles and possibly armor and/or destroyer and torment weapons. There are some titles I think that will be carried over, but some wont be for various reasons (kinda doubt the Factions titles will carry)

When I was looking up more info on Eye of the North I stumbled upon this quote:

"You Can Take It with You—Your achievements, trophies, and titles from Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North will not be forgotten. Your Hall of Monuments will preserve them until your descendants can claim them in Guild Wars 2."

so that about answers my Q's. of course even if i dont complete GW by time of GW2 ill b reserving and getting it day of launch so names should still be easy enough to grab.  ^ ^

I dont think you will have needed to complete GW, just opened up the HoM. Though on the other hand there has been no news on the name reservation other than you do it through the HoM

True. i think my reasoning for completing guild wars is more so that by doing so ill have an overal better understanding of the lore and background leading up to gw2 .

Im sure picking up game at launch day and installing and creating account should land me my name w/o any trouble. well names so i have others there to hold what i want namewise for later use.  Either way id like to at least have run someone through most if not all of guild wars by the time GW2 launches

Wonder how much trouble it would b to make a prophecies warrior and somehow complete the travel quests to get him to either nightfalls or factions areas to pick up a secondary o.O
