I bet there will be no real world in the mmorpg and everything will have a certain room or gathering zone for all the players players make their groups and go into their separate instance, I hate this and I am feeling this is going to be one of those games. Datnews.blogspot.com |

Actually I heard there will be an open world and just one single instance - that instance is specifically for you only though... and you can't leave! ____________________________ favorite mmo: SWG (pre cu/nge) played: SWG, WoW, WAR (beta), COH/V, EVE, Tabula Rasa |

You're right, there is. Maybe you should actually read them before saying such rediculous shit. |

Hate to play devil's advocate here, but if each zone is really city sized , this is quite a huge undertaking. I really hope that detail doesn't get sacrificed for scale.
They mentioned in the interview that exploration would be encouraged, so hoping for a huge detailed world. (or realistically complex cities, you can really get lost in and find stuff in the dark alleyways and sewers :))
I wouldn't have any problem with loading screens on teleporting / taking a plane trip and i imagine they'd be able to block off areas with roadblocks etc since the world is under such threat.
It's looking better than that shambles hellgate, mainly due to there being more than one colour (grey). That's always nice.

OP is completely wrong, bordering the trolling. Ragner said it was using AoC's zoning but with much larger zones and more open world exploration. Makes sense since it is the same engine..

And how does AoC's zoning work? |
|
|
It doesn't work like AoC's zones but rather like AO's (Funcoms first MMOG.) To the above question, AoC's zones are generally quite large but most are bordered by unpassable mountains with a door leading to the next area. It's unrealistic and pretty immersion breaking. Mind I think AoC is still a great game (now that it's been fixed) but there has been a lot of complaints about this and the games new director recognizes this and the expansion will work differently, more like AO zones.
Now AO zones are directly connected. Unlike AoC you aren't surrounded by mountains with a door, even in the desert, but rather each area meets the next directly and is separated by a shimmering boarder. So the 'walls' of each zone are simply a boarder that you cross directly. Its far less immersion breaking and with zoning only taking a second or three, it makes a zoned game feel much more continuous. So expect TSW zones to work more like AO zones. Since the real world cities of London, NYC and Seoul make up a large part of the game world (as far as we know), it can be assumed that each zone in a city will be its subsections like in NYC the Village might be a zone, the business district, etc.
This is largely assumption based off the little we know now, but we already know the zones will be much more 'open' than AoC's current zones and connect directly.
And to the OP. Learn 2 read. In my thread (that has no replies but 80+ views lol,) the director of the project says outright he hates instancing and so the game will use little of it. Likely no more than the uncommon personal instance for 'dungeons', etc. |

well cool thanks for info. i personally hate instancing too. i think mmo's have evolved passed that somewhat so to see it in a modern day mmo seems lame in my opinion. especially one still in the works. |
