To add my 2 cents.. I believe many rush to end game, not because leveling is boring, or flawed, but because it's to feed an ego, or desire much like a drug feeds an addict.. Many minds need to feed that desire of advancement rather it be leveling in a computer game, or simply getting a raise or promotion at work.. I personally believe I have overcome that ego driven flaw of NEED.. aka GREED.. Am I happy where I am in life? YOU BET.. I could care less if I ever see another promotion.. I'm enjoying my time with family and what we are doing.. We don't need to keep up with the Jone's and I really don't give a rat's @ss what the Jone's have or are doing.. Same applies to computer games.. Are you a raider with all the best gear? I honestly don't give a chit.. KUDO's to you if you feel that need to be superior to others.. I'm happy going at my pace and enjoying what I'm doing at the moment.. RUSH to end game IMO is a game mechanic to attack psychological need many flawed minds crave.. TISK TISK :(

Max level of Age of Conan is level 80 but it's not end game, the game begins at level 80. And you have total 8 characters to play with. All games are equal and they start from end game and ended up with new expansion. A game should have expansion each year. |

That is why the eastern developers make their games huge grindfests, to combat the rush. If you ask me that is a stupid method of controlling it. Far better ways. |

Didn't read any of the posts the title is enough for me. Why people rush to level cap? well here is the answer cause they want to be the best and by doing what they do the game is not fun but is more like a 2nd job for them. This is how a guy that rushes through the game thinks: "OH man I got to hit at least level XX today" you think he enjoys the game??? |

TISK TISK :(" [EDITTED BECAUSE I MEANT TO QUOTE THIS GUY...] While I got your point (those of us who rush to end-game are egomaniacs), it still had NOTHING to do with the real world whatsoever. And being from a psychology background, I'd have to say that the way you came off sounded a little more like self-pretention and envy than anything else. I don't mean to call you out, but it seemed like you were stroking your own ego by the end of your statement. As I have mentioned before, my guild rushes to end-game for several reasons, but none of those reasons is to feed our ego. Do we want to be the best in game? Sure. Some people don't want to settle for mediocrity in anything in life. Could we be happy otherwise? No doubt, but we just prefer to be the best. We're not consumed with ill-will towards those who like to sit around in their 20s for two or three months. Procrastinate as you wish, it leaves more room for us to grow. My guild also doesn't grief the opposing faction when we cap. We only attack those who have something to offer in PVP. So, really, we're not your typical end-game guild. Also, I'm sure this wasn't directed at guilds like ours, but I happen to know a lot of end-game guilds that have the basic mentality we do. Some do it just to enjoy the end-game content before it gets nerfed by the developers. --- THE Rooster Nash [A NOTE TO DEVELOPERS: Please don't destroy the hardcore gamer's end-game content by presenting the casual gamer's alternative, because hardcore gamers are no fools. We'll go the easy route to gear up, THEN we'll go harder after we've gotten the better gear, but that waters things down a bit... and that's exactly what we don't need in MMOs. Watery gameplay. It's wet. Nuff said.] THE Rooster Nash |

Any game about which it can be said, "the game begins at <max level>" is a game I have absolutely no interest in playing. The game begins at level 1. I'm not interested in a game that I have to grind for weeks before the game "begins". |

I thought the toilet was funny... others may give it more meaning. *sigh* |

I disagree in that I don't think that people rush to endgame because a game is flawed, I think its more due to gear and mentality of many of the gamers out there. As a vet UO player there was still an end game... it was just defined differently... and yes there was still a grind in these early MMO's. |

EvE has no real endgame. It actually has that "environment you can wander around in doing whatever interests you". Granted, the environments aren't to everyone's taste, bu t then that will be true of any game. Oh I know, When I say todays MMOs I'm speaking of the post WoW Era of gaming. I hate endgame and fully support as many sandbox games as I can because they have the balls not to offer this endgame garbage.
Although I am often baffled and annoyed by people complaining on eve forums because they can't get to the endgame... Give me liberty or give me lasers |
