This is the first MMO that has kept my interest since Asheron's Call. I didn't like EQ, WoW, Anarchy (well it was alright), Linage 2, ect.. I never tried DAoC and I'll concede that I would have properly liked the game play it's just that the setting never really appealed to me.

I find this game to be a lot of fun. I don't feel like I'm under a constant grind, between quests, PQs, and all the RvR action there is always something different for me to do. The PvP is great, and contrary to what a lot of other people have said I find it to be pretty balanced. What I mean by this is that whenever I see even numbered groups go head to head the one who is most organized seems to almost always come on top. I especially see this in SC's, and is the part of the game I find most frustrating I hate loosing just because we weren't acting like a team.

I love the setting. It's gritty and dark. The Orks eat babies, the Dark Elves are evil sadists, Chaos just wants to destroy and rape everything. On the Order side the Empire is a crazy cult willing to burn anyone at the stake if suspected of witchcraft, the Dwarves are spiteful a-holes, and the High Elves are arrogant racial supremacists. There really is no good side, they're all messed up in the head one way or another, which I really like.

At least on the server I play on (Iron Rock) its always pretty active maybe not at 3am, but I see warbands form and constant keep takes and defenses on a daily basis (T1 and T2, just got up to T3). I rank up almost exclusively through RvR and SCs (which if it was completely dead I wouldn't be able to do especially this quickly) I don't know of any other game that allows me to do that. It's great, the thrill of going up against a real person beats any AI IMO any day. Sure I'll do the occasional quest or farm some PQ to rank up quickly now and then, but its the PvP combat that has me hooked.

The community is pretty good a lot of nice people out there, though of course it's not everyone. The point is that I am having a lot of fun, I have never managed to subscribe to an MMO for more than a month since I quit AC. I found WoW boring, quest, quest, quest, quest, get better gear, quest, quest, quest. Finding groups was a real pain, in WAR I just open the tab see what open groups are in my zone and what they're doing and choose to join or not, no hassle, no endless spamming. Linage 2 was a constant grind fest, felt the same way about EQ. I felt like I never had the time to accomplish anything in those games. As for Aion, well it would take some amazing game play for me to get hooked on it, I personally can't stand the graphics or art direction. It looks like an Asian cartoon with characters in qausi space suit armor, not my cup of tea. (Yes I've heard you can totally customize your avatar so it doesn't look like that, well the armor still looks lame and I'd bet that for the most part I'd see those cartoon looking characters).

I still haven't reached T4, but I don't really see myself getting tired of it that quickly. As long as I can PvP I'll have fun. I guess its just a different mentality. I mean you see people playing FPS's all the time, constantly the same thing over and over and over again. Except for it's not the same, because your playing with and most importantly against other people. That's where the thrill is.

Sorry for such a long post, I just get tired of seeing every forum full of "this game sucks" "its going to fail" threads.

And as always Destro rules

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, it really is nice to hear, as opposed to everyone else yelling 'LAWL FAILHAMMER IS FAIL.' The game really doesn't deserve a lot of the bad rep it has gotten, but at the same time, It really does. It has so much going for it, but the obvious design problems outweigh everything else.

I do have to say that T4 is where the game falls apart. When you're coming up through T2 and T3, it really does look like a bright future ahead, but sorry to say, the endgame is poor. No amount of teamwork will account for the fact that the opposing faction has twice as many people on as your side and are pushing you into the IC. All you can do is take it. That is all T4 is, a giant zergfest, with the winner being whoever has more people on.

But I'm sure nothing I could say will deter you from getting there yourself. I'm just warning you not to get your hopes up too much.

if only yo reached level 30 and that was it...balance issues take a huge hold in T4  with simple class imbalances plus gear makes more of a difference then the devs would let on.

however if you have fun stick with it...from i have been hearing Iron Rock's Destro is starting to push order out of the stalemate that i knew it was in for so long (not a whole stale mate but not in IC or Altdorf every two days) Hopefully the server doesnt fall to become a Destro server...goodness knows the game needs at least one server that plays how the game should have been played..

Quite before the summer ended after returning for about 2 months...good times....not good enough. (Still love my CE art book and comic tho)

I second what Czargio said.

I found Warhammer extremely fun from T1 to T3, but when you hit T4 it does turn into nothing but a giant zergfest.  The only reason I am not playing Warhammer still now is due purely to T4 RvR.

Otherwise a very great game and glad to hear you are having fun :)  I have been thinking of reactivating myself sometime.

It really has, I like a lot of the changes they've made recently. Unfortunately, it has already driven out a lot of the player base, as evident by the amount of servers they've closed.

Don't die mad, just die.

I just canceled again, game still won't let me turn up the settings and the game still feels empty since everyone is in scenarios.

When they allow me to turn up the graphics/animations and get rid of scenarios, let me know.

To the OP, glad you're having fun, I'm still looking for something to hold my attention.

The game was a failure, why  don't people get over it?

It may be a failure to alot of us, but still some other players is having fun, and that's the most important for them.

A bold statement, based on what? Of course it wasn't the game a lot of people were waiting for, and in fact left a bad taste in a good number of peoples mouth, but there is still a lot of fun to be had. The OP is a testament to this. Just because you didn't like the game (assuming you played and are not parroting popular opinion) doesn't mean everyone doesn't like it.

I love WAR and I don't care about the non subscribed whiners. I love the fact I can start killing enemies from level 1 to level 40. I love the fact I can earn points and get crests from killed players. I also love the scenarios.

For those that complain about T4 being zergfest::

Don't contribute to the zerg and move to different area or kill players that do contribute to the zerg as there are always solo people who follow the masses and usually are good renown - much better than joining the zerg.

Naturally some classes are worse 1vs1 classes than others but you can always duo instead of soloing, I did 2h of solo pvp and got 30k renown without zone locks (rr59 Witch Hunter), play the game and enjoy it the way you want to instead of forcing yourself into certain mold.

T1-T3 is still extremely active and lot of people are playing alts and having fun every day in these tiers to take a break from the tedium that is T4, but in small doses or sometimes larger T4 is still a blast when faced with proper opposition, if you just RvE all day it's booring :)

Hope that helps.
