Havent reached more than lvl 12 so I wanted to ask you ppl that have reached higher lvl's.
How bad is it for melee later on ? I really want to play a melee class but it seems that ranged have an advantage.
Hoping for a quick reply .

All I know is my mage fries face and my warrior hits like a pansy.. but that's kind of expected.
The cooldown on the warrior attacks really urks me (of course he's level 8)... Attack, chain attack, block... wait for 5 second cool down... Attack, chain attack, dead. I haven't had a monster even get to my Mage.. Ice bolt + knockback, earth (whatever) the DoT thingy, flamebolt + chain (usually dead at this point).. if not you have snare.. run and gun.
I have no idea what it will be like later on though. |

Like melee vs ranged in any game, staying at range will keep the ranged at an advantage, staying in melee will keep melee at the advantage. Each class will get their appropriate distance closers, knockbacks, and roots. So far Aion is well balanced, it will most likeley depend on both player skill and gear. MMOs played: Horizons, Auto Assault, Ryzom, EVE, WAR, WoW, EQ2, DAoC, Aion, Requiem, Atlantica, DDO |

Assassin, Sorc, Gladiator, Ranger get all the props for pvp in Korean reviews I read. In that order I might add. "Sometimes people say stuff they don't mean, but more often then that they don't say things they do mean" |

Ranged do not have a significant advantage over melee. Play whichever class you want to.
All the melee have an ability to root, stun, etc. a ranged character and some even have a sprint to catch them when they try to kite. The Sorcerer cannot cast offensively on the run and their cast time is slow. You can easily catch them. The ranger is a glass cannon and they only have burst DPS. As long as you survive their first assult, you can rush them and drop them with just a few hits. Having played the CB to 20 as assassin, i find that melee are more prone to range in the early levels. After level 20 things start getting better because of more combos to choose from. Besides there are extendable weapons you can craft or get from instances that give a bit of range to melee classes. Depending on the class and player ability the range vs melee is a toss up. Currently playing: Aion Played: L2 RFO EvE R.O.S.E EQ2 HellGate:London TRIBES2 WOW WarHammer |

In the early levels yes, a ranged player that knows what they are doing will have their way with a melee. Your only hope in the early levels is to chug pots, and time your stuns, knockdowns (whichever class you are) really well, or hope the ranged player is a complete retard. However I might add most players out there right now are of the latter. I've ran into 2 players that actually knew how to kite and use their cc at the right times. You'll be slamming into a lot of down syndromes that try to back peddle their way to victory, or really just have no clue what they are doing anyways. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
Ranged always have the advantage in PvP in most game's Ive played. The biggest issue is that those ranged characters are often the same classes that have the most ability to keep an enemy in one place. The success of a melee in PvP is dependent on the classes ability to slow down or imobalize his/er opponant when they get in close. |
