Most people use the level 45 free lunch quest to get the new pet, then level said new pet to 30 before releasing it for pet upgrade items with the pet master. It's a free way to change your pets grade without having to spend the gold on celebeans. Also, the gear for pets in the pet shops is icky. Learn how to make your pet it's own gear and gather recipes for making pet gear. 30 is the magic number with pets as a level 30 pet can farm, hunt, mine, fish, treasure hunt, etc to get the necessary items that the pet gear recipes require! Also, some people will just keep doing the pet quest until they get a magmas pet which is the most valued pet in the game in regards to pvp and pve in the effects/buffs it provides it's player companion.
