Recently resubscribed and I am having a blast.  I am addicted.  Love the Realm v. Realm combat.

Is WAR dead ?

I did a calculation this morning on Xfire stats (3 way reference point of supposed western subs in WOW (5.5M), EVE(300K), Lotro180K) and I came up with 90K to 100K players for War at the moment.

100K combined western players means they would need to hang on to a max of 5 US/PAC servers these days.

EA will have to decide the level of support for the game.

Mind you AoC is in a worse state right now. It is clearly under 75K at the moment. But the problem with AoC is that it has fallen under the 1000 Xfire players limit, which means the sampling is becoming too small to measue anything within a 10% bracket.

The last quarter financial results of FunCom showed (as always) an indirect confirmation of these Xfire stats for AoC btw (you could deduct from the result a sub base arund 80K).

---> So War isn't dead yet, but it is not far from being hospitalized. EA is the doctor wo will decide after all.

 I still remember Mark JAcobs taking bets with his staff, the game would go to 2 million at the end of 2009. Well he just missed his prediction by 1.900.000 ... and counting.

 bah I`m so sad to admit but WAR is almost dead after palying it since beta I msut admit that it is loosing his last breath ,even if WAR survives who will make game a better and improve it no senior developers left in Mythic now I think.....

Was fun while it lasted i met some great people there but new patches didn`t even scratched the surface of problems which weren`t solved since beta so....WAR is dead may it rest in peace

The only real way to tell the amount of subscribers is to view Mythic's financial records and I doubt we can do that. AoC is truly dead though. Funcom will probably drop that one when Secret World comes out. WAR does have a chance of regaining numbers as people saw when Vanguard made some changes. WAR just needs a new expansion badly, something that makes players go, "There is no way I can miss this. New races? New classes? New battlefields!? HELL YEA!"

 I'm actually playing DAoC again. Still have not found a game that is this much fun.

We all know that War needs much much more than that for players to come back. A total revamp of their engine and pve, etc...

I personally dont mind they shut down and giving them 2 more years to redo the game. I will still come back once its finish.

But so far no company ever do that, esp under EA.

Only hope i have now is when TOR is launch, they will move the whole Mythic over there, and close down this game ( just my personal wish) and let another/ better company produce this game with such a great IP again...

Well although not made by Mythic, and it was the best pvp/rvr game ever imo..have you tried Aion?at least research this game, watch gameplay on youtube..its the clsest to DAOC i have seen come out to date..fortress capturing,relics,siege ,two sides right now but there is the third AI side that do attack your fortresses..i have played in closed beta and now open beta..although the game could use a few tweeks its looking to be alot of fun for me..cant wait for sept 22nd release to start myself.

Earn Abyss points by questing and killing NPCs. Sounds a LOT like Warhammer's renown system to me.

they dont know what player need whatever they might be thinking

but one think is sure ,all player arent satisfied

thw question  EA and MYTHIC need to have answer to first is what is wrong with war

and i can already say this wont be easy to answer,everybody want to love war 

the hype at the start showed that,the thing is something is not right in the game but not lot of player can exactly name whats off 

too gloomy maybe ,notr hard enough  maybe.some part too much like gw  maybe 

i mean if EA and MYTHIC dont get answer to the basic question of  why war isnt THE game

whatever mmo that gang will release will be in the same situation as war ,aoc and all the others are

gamer showed with the aion deal they have been ready to adopt any freaking game 

and yet ,gamer are still at the stage of NOPE NOT THAT ONE ,NOPE NOT THAT ONE.
