Perhaps these people have not played WoW in a few years.  1-60 of WoW is practically all solo, unless you get lucky enough to find 5 people to do an instance.  Other than that, there is no part of WoW that is social when leveling.

Aion is pretty much the same thing as WoW in that respect, anyone complaining about it is just yet another devoted fanboy or hater.

Yes but comparing it to wow is not a vaild counter point. for example If someone compains that it doesnt have X Y and Z simply saying '' Wow doesnt have X Y and Z either'' doesnt make a good argument.

I have a feeling you don't know what you're talking about. 1-60 is easy to find a group. Also just to be an ass I'm going to point out you only need to find 4 people.

I agree, but that mutual lack of content is okay as long as it's compared to WoW. According to most of the people coming to Aion from WoW. :)

Leveling is levelling theres no fancy doughnut from starbucks way of doing it. You can do it the sewer rat ugly with garish dress way of a wo_ (censored) gnome, or the Butt ugly Asmodian way, or even the fairy (even if your a guy) elys way. But my friends, we do much in life alone. I FPS, do I not bleed? I DC, do I not cry? We log on alone, we logoff alone.

Most people who hate solo leveling also hate WoW, as it is pretty much the game that introduced the concept into the genre. Grouping was encouraged or required in all of the major games before it (except maybe UO? I didn't play that one).

Levels and quest grinding hurt this genre badly.

In games like WoW. If your friend happens to play few hours more than you, you are no longer able to play together, because he has already advanced further in quests.

Not saying Aion is a bad game, but thats one aspect I hate in themepark mmo's.

Wow, the OB has only been live for one day and those who are making comments that leveling solo wait until you get to the 10-20 tier zone. There are entire open areas (Not instanced) of the zone that *require* a group of at least 3 to go through it due to it being populated with elite mobs. Imagine a low level instance in wow but in the open world and you need to go through it to get to the next part of the zone of which you can't solo or wait until you get to the level requirement to unlock the teleport to that area of the zone. There are also many campaign quests for these group areas as well as others and skipping out on them leaves you out of a huge chunk of XP. Sure you can skip it which I tried in CB and you'll be behind when you reach the next zone for those quests offered there. I am speaking from the Elyos side which is relatively barren of group requirement quests until around 15 as for the Asmodian side if you like that kind of stuff they start pushing group quests on you at 10 and they don't stop I actually like the Elyos side better due to this fact as I found myself screaming LFG constantly as I was trying to progress to 15 with my asmodian character.

This is the first MMORPG that I ever played that they really force you into grouping up while you level and even designed the game around that fact. If you want a game where your going to be forced into grouping over and over again this is surely the game for you...

Wtf are you smoking?  You aren't forced to group to level as an asmodian, l2p.

Ahh the 50 billion flies can't be wrong gambit :) It's a tough deal for devs to encourage grouping without forcing it.

Nothing wrong with solo play or group play.

I'm all for people having gameplay options in games.

Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age?

I have to agree with this....

They do not reward quest correctly, and amount of times you can do it.

As for leveling... if 1 level is big difference then it hurts the genre... if its 10-20 levels different and not too bad... then that would be cool..

Asheron's Call is perfect example how things should be for ALL crappy MMORPG should look up to.  Because it doesnt tell u what to do. Like for example, oh no i see a "?"mark above NPC and I gotta get to him and click to whtaever to accept it without reading it. get real.. do we see that in real life people holding up sign says "?" mark!?

Peace.
