If you paid to play the beta, you did that by choice.  Many people, including 10,000 MMORPG users, were able to play for free.

This was a beta, not a "Free Preview".  Once the game has been open for a while, I'm sure there will be free trial offers for people who are not sure it is worth the money.

To be honest, you do seem whiny.  AVG never told me I had a virus, and I've been playing since the first beta event.

If you had fun in the game, then get over the petty BS and play it and have fun.  Otherwise, just find another game and get over it.  The key here?  Get over it.

No where does it state you have to pay for anything or that you must have or buy a game key to play. You find this out after it is too late. Money is tight for many, Americans at least, at this time. For some gaming is the only entertainment. Before I would invest in any game I would like to try it first. With Aion this is not possible. Imagine how many customers you have lost. Fileplanet and Ncsoft have lost many as well. The entire experience for myself and many others has been a fiasco.

...and now Aion used a beta key concept and many p2p games with any hype remotely surrounding it will use it in the future. Get it through your thick skulls and stop bullshitting people that you've been in a large amount of betas. You're not fooling anyone and it just makes you look silly. There is too much of a popular interest in these games any more and they can get people to spend cash to help them test it so that's just how it's going to be. 

Deal with it, wait for the free trial, or go annoy someone else in another game genre because it's getting really goddamn annoying any more.

 

Ok thanks to all for help and advise.  To those who enjoy being mean, name calling and slamming me for my posting my experience...oh well.  I have seem to forgotten that alot of gamers are very immature.  I have only been gamming for a year, so my experience was a new one to me.  I am glad a gave you all something to get your adrenaline going.  FYI there is a large market of adults that enjoy gaming now, not used the the highschool, bully mentality lol.

Which open betas did you play?  I've played more than a few myself, and if you think that in todays MMO world, they are going to allow everyone and their mom to just go to the site, d/l it, and "play", you're nuts. MMOs are "mainstream" now, theres too many people for your classic "open beta". Maybe it needs a new name..

As for NCsoft being mean on money... how much of said money you think they are getting? Sounds to me like you are paying fileplanet.

Sorry, I like AVG a lot, but their detection fails in this case.

Two heuristic detection fires, one "suspicious" file detected (also, probably due to the packer), and nothing from 37 other antivirus scanners. Themida is a packer. It is used to securely "pack" applications so they can't be reverse engineered. That is all. Its detected by AVG because virus builders can also use it to "pack" their viruses.

I know how you feel in wanting to enjoy something and can not. I'm not from USA, I am Brazilian and the conditions under which we live is surely worse than that of a dominant country.

Heh, I have to giggle at statements like this.  Those of us that know NCSoft, know they don't do open or closed beta here in Region 1.  They already did that in Korea.  What they are after here is payment for early access to their game.  They have been doing it in every game, just about, since Lineage 2.  Call it taking a chapter from Microsoft and advancing it.  Just like Microsoft, they release a finished yet not finished product and expect people to pay for it and provide beta at the same time.

This is how beta's work, open betas got no NDA, they don't have AS RESTRICTIVE of time limits, the amount of people allowed in is significantly larger, but the flood gates are not opened to every Mark, Rick, and Steve who want to play.

Sorry for your bad experience but if you want to play a finished game, wait till the release. before the flamers even start, Its not a finished game in NA, till the servers are correctly configured, yes the coding is done, the hardware isn't.

While I agree the OB has been a diaster for Labor Day weekend play, I think the OP is a bit extreme in the letter.  I'm sure NcSoft will work out the major bugs(which should have been done already) within a couple of days so we can all play.

How have you been in several open and close betas if you've only been gaming a year, and furthermore if that was true then why would you not know that you might want to make sure you could activate some type of account to actually be able to play the game?

...and your experience was your own doing. You blamed the game for something that was your own fault. If you would have came here and simply asked then I never would have been a big meanie >_>

Kind of ironic considering there are things you could bring up that could equate to a fiasco so far if you planned on using this time to try and trial test the game.  Just not what you said heh

Perhaps you should consider your own attitude and approach to the issue.  You didnt begin your post "I'm a noob and I need some help".  You came out on the offensive, called the entire game a fiasco.  Do you see the difference there?

You'd be surprised at the different response you get when you start things out on the right foot.

The open beta had an unfortunate rough start, there is server maintenance currently underway to fix the aforementioned issues.

The OP sounds like someone who just got ganked! lol

I think what got to people here is that you sent the complaint in first, and then you just posted the letter here, without researching the facts at all. NCSoft has messed up a bit in this beta, and you're totally in your rights to complain to them. But we'd like you to complain about things more appropriately.

And then you could have taken that information and sent in your complaint letter, and it would have been 100% accurate and a valid complaint. And most of us would have agreed with you. We're not picking on you because you're new or because you don't know the answers already.

You know I try to reserve my comments, and only post them when they are more or less well thought out. I try to remain somewhat nuetral cause I understand the world doesn't revolve around me.

but you want to see why some people are saying you lie, and don't know what your talking about. (Including  me)

You make this letter complaining about how they didn't have enough documentation about how to get into open beta. and thats cool, I worked retail and retail maintenence, I know that most people do not read posted signs, and I forgive you for that.

Then you go on to say that you have played many games, and been in closed and open beta's, thats cool, a claim lots of people make, but then you say you'd been gaming a year a little later, and not too many MMO's came out in the last year, we had a bunch of releases a little over a year ago, but those betas required keys, and did you start gaming cause you signed up for some beta keys, not caring cause your not a gamer, and you got in and this is how your hobby started? then there are F2P mmo's that have come out but thats a different beast,

Basically what I'm saying is with a year under your belt, and being a beta tester, how much experience do you have playing finished games?  must have alot of free time on your hands, much more than someone with say, a job.

Then there is the matter of you saying you won't post here anymore, then don't you know it, you keep talking.
