Honestly NCSoft has no idea what an "Open Beta" is.  Open Beta is when anyone can login, create and account and try the game and this is not the case since we either needed to have pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game or paid money to IGn for a subscription fee to be able to get a code.

This is a preview test not an open beta and if a company cannot tell the difference between open beta and preview testing I do not think they have any idea of how to run a game.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but this has been common practice for numerous companies for over 4 or so years.

For me, the gates will open.

closed beta, means that there is a NDA in effect, and you cannot discuss the game except for on the closed beta boards.

Open beta, means that there is no NDA in effect and you can talk about it anywhere.

Actually, open beta just means it's open to the public. You still have to buy it, but anyone can play.

Closed beta means there's a select few.

Even though you can pre-order the game and get into all betas. loloololol.

Just because your definition of "open beta" is not the same as NCSoft's doesn't mean they are wrong to call it an OB. This is how many games do it now, learn to deal.

They can adjust classes all day but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair.

The fact still remains it is not an open beta.

Look at the amount of problems they are currently addressing now. If it was your version of an open beta I don't think it would ever be fixed because there would be too many servers and way too much overpopulation. I think they did it the right way IMO.

I read you post with baited breath and heaving chest breathing hoping to get an answer, a meaning I had been missing, that thousands before me have struggled with. But all I got was what has been hashed to some degree many many time before; beta or not to beta.

Please sir I gots to know, What about your foot??????

I seriously have to ask this question, how old are you?

This is how open beta tests have been run for years, either deal with it or not deal with it. Coming here to complain will not change things. I was hoping when MMO's started to do this the whining and immature behaviour would be at a minimum in the open betas but it hasn't. It is the same in the game and on the boards.. whine, whine and more whine.

I should go order a case of crackers and cheese to go with all the whining.

Open beta does not = demo. If you are to stupid to know this you might want to put the games away and do some more of that book learning stuff

I think an Aion Whiners site would have a healthy population maybe someone should check into advertisers for it. Might be an untapped source of income that could be used to make a game and do it right since nobody has been able to produce one in the last 5 yrs according to the expert whiners.

It has to be true, i have internet links.

Your definition of Open Beta is what Mmorpg companies and most of us (with a few exceptions like the OP) use to call: a Free Trial.
