This open beta is nothing more than a display of NCSoft's incompetence.

These kinds of results in an "open beta" (bs marketing term for free preview when it's this close to live) that is not even truly open is utterly ridiculous. I'm canceling my pre-order.

Enjoy the inevitable mass-exodus cancellation woosh within the first month or two, a la AOC and Warhammer.

Quite sad. I pity those of you that have experienced other hyped-up marketing masterpieces such as AOC and Warhammer and still have the blindness to give another company another undeserved $60.

Bye, I played AoC for 9 months had a lot of fun sorry you didn't =( Yg.com had me rated the second best ranger in the world before I quit. Not sure as you didn't specify what happend that made you cancel your pre-order or w/e but that sucks, it happens, yup theres lag rut roh. WoW was unplayable at launch due to the #'s logging in ... Aions the same atm.

God forbid the servers arent perfect for an open beta that you should be happy to get a chance to play in.

Did you ever try the WoW open beta? It was much much worse. Hell I remember after WoW released soem servers were down for a full week while we were paying for the game. Some servers in WoW still crash constantly. Remember the release of Ulduar when nobody could zone in even?

These problems are not unique to Aion. Dont even sit there and try to say things like that.

Game guard and programs like that DO cause issues sometimes when they get updated. The game guard Aion uses was updated right before beta, and they need to fix the issues with it. I know they are working on a fix, and that is really all they can do.

Maybe if you are such an amazing person you can snap your fingers and fix the network problem...

Well, if you are expecting something radically new you might be dissapointed.

Personally though, i've been playing since the beginning of the beta (pre-order) and am enjoying it alot.

I think he refers to the fact that it went up 38 mins late,or possibly the rubberbanding issues from having 50K + players all try to login at once,or it could be the 10 min server downtime to address server stability,or maybe he is complaining about the network servers "which NC does not own" that are imploding from massive congestion on route to the NC servers.

People make me laugh,OB was for 1.5 implementation if you thought for a min that it was going to be some smooth playing happy fun time,I feel sorry for ya.

I also remember WOW wasn't released for almost a year before their open beta. Pull your head out of your ass. There is no way that this game (for almost a year in operation) should be stumbling out of the gate 2 weeks before release. This is a major punch in the gut for NCsoft. I just logged out of Aion, and it is currently unplayable. Total lagfest.  NCsoft is acting like they have never opened a MMO server before. And for this game to be operating this long, in this kind of shape is unexcuseable.

You can apologize for NCsoft all you want, but the fact is, NCsoft really SHAT the bed on this one.

1) Your acting like half of the ignorant kids in region chat. You obviously don't understand OB is not a marketing term. It is a TEST ON THE SERVERS. If they could implicate realtime connections from over 50k+ players at once they would do it without us. Since they cannot they use us. I would rather they pissoff people who care more about trying to beat a game than help fix the game.

The issues Aion is having atm are SERVER BASED. The servers are NEW SERVERS for the Western players. They have never had a severe load on them before. THIS IS WHY COMPANIES DO OPEN BETA / STRESS TESTS. So that their servers are ready FOR LAUNCH.

It was released for 8 months in CHINA. Not the networking company in america. CHINA! We don't connect to that server. And if we did you'd lag even worse. Ignorance is an option not a god given trait of humanity.

so ncsoft wont do better

to top it all player got recommended by ncsoft to deactivate their security ,that way aion would play smooth

For those who care and don't know, NC hit some massive networking issues yesterday.

The first few hours of OB were smooth sailing for most, then there was a server reboot to fix an issue that carried over in patch 1.5 and after that reboot a ton of people began having massive connectivity/lag/rubberbanding issues.

If you hop on Aionsource and look at the tracert thread, you'll see where everyone is timing out in their hops.

Since I played 25+ hours of CB6 and the start of OB flawlessly, I know what the game holds for me, I know that buying it was a smart move, I know that this is not another WAR or AoC for me. The fact that they are having some networking issues, during open beta, at a new data center (cb servers were in Tx, OB and launch servers are on Easy Coast) is a minor inconvenience at most.

Anyone throwing a fit over this would have thrown it regardless.

You guys who are using the extra big text and the colored words are making my left eyeball hurt.  Can't you say what you mean without the extra special FX?  A big word here or a colored word there is fine if you want to make a point.  But, a full wall of poopy colored text or a jam it in the eye word-fest is kind of ridiculous.

The thing that gets me is everyone thinks because they are having lag problems that the ENTIRE world is having the exact same problems. Talked to one guy in game who said he didn't understand cause his "cpu ran other games well enough, like command and conquer and Black and white, Intergrated graphics should be good enough right?"

Sometimes its YOUR connection not theirs, Sometimes its YOUR ISP, or YOUR computer can't handle a game, (I'm not hating on people who don't have an awesome machine, I was there once too, just work hard, it'll happen for you one day)

Just case and point, I live on the TX coast (yes people your physical location can have something to do with your ping) and have a 3 Mb/s connection we had a Open Beta party, four people connecting to Aion, on the same connection, NO LAG we played for about 12 hours total yesterday, (It's kinda sad, I admit that, but when you work 60hrs a week and you got a three day weekend you gorge on doing what you love)

I take that back one of the players on a laptop was connecting to the network wirelessly and they had some lag spikes, probably wasn't NCSofts fault though, probably something more along the lines of being on a laptop with a wireless connection.

But yes I expierenced no lag, very few bugs, which I reported cause its a BETA and the reason they let you play is so you can report bugs so they can fix them.
