Well, that is it, I have had it. Sorry Aion, but this has got to be one of the worst times I have had ATTEMPTING to play. It scares me that this game is so close to launch, and has been already launched in Asia for so many months, and still has problems like this. IF I can get into a server (which I usually cant, because it times out, and says you cant connect... Which would not be a big deal, IF IT DIDN"T BOOT YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE DESKTOP)  then I barely last 5 mins before I get "Gameguard Error: Gameguard will be closed". And yes, that boots me all the way back to the desktop. i figure, I MUST be doing something wrong. Nope, it is just random. I could be just standing there, typing in chat, creating a char, reading a quest... Doesn't matter. Happens constatly.

Not that it really matters though, because the servers are lagging so badly that you can barely do anything, and I am rubberbanding all over the place. Half the mobs are "too far away", but are standing right in front of me. I have 180 FPS, but god only knows what my ping is.

AoC might have been annoying with the grey maps, but at least it took a while, and you could play a bit... Anyway, enjoy everyone, but I will check this game out a bit later. Hopefully it will be in better shape.

I am having the  same issues. My frist impression  is its not worth buying. I am starting to get very Jaded  where it comes to new games. If a game starts out with major issues I will just drop it and go do something else or back to whatever I had been playing

Same, couldn't log in at first, then I finally get a connect, horrible horrible lag, 2 minutes later I disconnect with a Gameguard Error.

Can't help you with them needing a s##t-ton more servers for latency, but I can help with that - GG is absolutely retarded and those errors normally come up because you're running a "smart" software firewall or an antivirus that has network threat protection. GG trips them, and they trip GG; its a vicious cycle.

Avira and Commodo have the worst problems, but I've heard of Norton glitches, too. Try adding exceptions for the GG application.

I have not had a firewall or antivirus in 5 years. So no, that cannot be the problem. My wife has had the exact same problems as well, and her system is two weeks old, with nothing but WoW, Firefox and WinRar installed from a fresh Vista 64 install.

Too bad with your problems. I played two hours in EU server Thor. No problems with being thrown out or lag. I did have problems getting into the game before that, but after uninstalling Commodo Firewall it worked fiine

Hmm, that is quite terrifying, and it sort of wants to make me cry. Regardless; if that is the case, I don't know what is causing those problems besides latency. Anyway, its something to try for people having GG issues - that's happened to people in all the games that I've played that have used it. Even having the Chrome browser open causes it to error out.

Why is that terrifying? Anti virus programs have almost always turned out to be a complete waste of time, and usually slow down my computer more than half the malware out there. Also, the firewalls usually only help against the smaller threats anyway. In five years, I have gotten only small viruses, which I have fixed manually within a few hours. Besides, if I DID get a big one, I don't keep sensitive material on my machine, so I dont stand to lose much, and I can just re-install windows. Problem solved. I just find firewalls to be cumbersom, and a pain in the ass. Also, if you are careful with what you do, and don't click random links/e-mails, you don't have that much of a chance of getting something nasty.

I hvae tried turning firewalls off, and closing down my antivirus , and I stll get booted out of the game about every 5 to 10 mintues

I think I will pass on this game , it looks ok but nothing new and the crashes just annoy me to no end

How many attempts does it take people to get past the can't connect message?  I've tried about 30 times with no luck.  Is that normal?

NC Soft should have just gotten rid of GG and had a better, more computer friendly system. I unfortunately feel all of the pain that you guys are having with errors involving GG. And to think, this is the ONLY game that gives me problems with GG. I have 2 other games on the same comp. and no problems at all. I ended up pulling my reserve and went back to EQ2.

Actually, the majority of my career is dedicated to reverse-engineering malware and analyzing botnets. Yeah, no AV is stellar, but you would be amazed at what's out there these days, how easy it is to get via drive-by browser-based attacks, and how subtly it can behave. But getting into a bitter, off-topic debate was not where I was going at all, and you don't have any data you care about losing (except your game logins), etc, etc, and I might as well try to change somebody's religious views. Please patch Windows. Anyway, I /facepalm because I care way too much, not because I troll.

Maybe irt is, but you should never have to turn off/disable firewalls or anti-virus in order to play a game. As I have both Vista 64 and Avast... I won't be playing Aion until they fix their issues... not that they'll give a damn either way.

Good for you! Alot of my friends were really excited about Aion, including me, for the past year, at least. Most of them bailed out as well, 'cept for 2. They are staying dedicated until release. I told them I wish them all the luck. lol

It's a beta retard. Man, why does NCsoft even let people like you past the TOS. NCsosft specifically stated they are doing server tweaks and tests/stressing WHILE people are playing. Don't get this wrong, THIS IS A STRESS TEST.

I know all of you are playing for your "ENJOYMENT", But realize that in a beta, your enjoyment is NOT the purpose. This is not a "Demo" or "Free trial". It's your own fault if your gaming experience is completely ruined because you have no idea what a beta's purpose is.

I will be frank, you all sound like a bunch of stupid/ignorant eleven year olds.

Hah, you obviously never beta tested for EQ2. You think aion is laggy? Since when is a MMO stress test going to run how it is supposed to? FYI, EQ2 was much worse than this in beta, but at the end, they smoothed almost all of the crashes/lag out by release..

But guess what, a ton of people bitched about the EQ2 beta """Seem familiar to now?""" and cried home to their previous mmo and never touched EQ2 again, and to this day, most of them probably think EQ2 is laggy as all hell.

See how this is repeating in this thread? Bunch of kids who think a beta/stress test is going to mirror the state of release. Even EQ lagged a "little" after release because of the mass influx of players, but given away and everything smooths down. Nobody seems to realise this is completely normal.

I understand your points as well, but if the game won't work without disabling your anti-virus completely, isn't that a little silly? I don't trust not having my anti-virus up for long periods of time. Besides, keep in mind I was hardcore into wanting to devote my free time into this game, hell I was waiting for a year! I just don't find it keeping me excited. To each his own. I hope you guys enjoy yourselves. <3

I played for 4 hours and I've had some lag and rubberbanding here and there...a lot right before they took the servers down.  However, I have yet to be booted out completely and haven't seen a single GameGuard error since the 1.5.0.3 patch and I'm running Win7 x64.

They really do need to change it so that any sort of failed login doesn't boot you out the game.  LAWL
