For a temporary solution it will work. But dont expect it to pull out all the stops. I would buy it to last you through the beta and then get your self a good 8 series geforce card or if you have the do a GTX series(or the ATI equivilents). I would lower the game settings a bit...maybe to medium...just so you dont stress the card. Make sure to check the stores return policy so you can take it back when your done with it...and put that money into your new card.

You may have to sacrifice my friend. If your not sure your gonna get your money back on a temp card I would sacrifice a day or two of beta and order something like a cheap 8400 or 8600 from new egg and pay the extra pimp hands for the next day shipping. If you time it right it will come to you monday. Since theres no postal on sundays XD.

52 degrees is not very hot, so I highly doubt it fried from heat. I can't say what did happen, but 52 degrees is hardly scorching. (And yes, I know you mean celcius, lol.)

Also, dont bother getting an 8600 again. Cough up the extra 20 bucks, and get a 9600gt. Here is one for 75 dollars: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130485

Seriously, the difference is huge.

To tell you the truth theres not much of a difference between the 8 and 9 series cards. It was more of a marketing thing on Nvidias side. They knew people would buy the higher numbered cards. The 9800 isnt clocked that much higher than the 8800...If you really want to dish out money for a card to last you get something int he GTX series. If your not planning on too much high end gaming then a 9 series card will do fine.
