Funcom wasn't kidding when they said they would be showing their hand on The Secret World at this year's Penny Arcade Expo. Following yesterday's faction reveal and trailer, we've now got a bevy of concept artwork to show you. The new artwork gives us a look at the art direction behind the three factions revealed yesterday: the Templars, the Dragon, and the Illuminati, including the aforementioned factions' headquarters. Check out all the new goodies at our The Secret World gallery, here. Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

Unfortunately FC artwork doesn't necessarily mean its a good game. I'll wait til after launch and a free trial to see how this game turns out. |

The concept art is lovely. It does not mean anything about how the game will be, but I like good art anyway. The core ideas are very good, but then, they were very very good in AoC. The game itself in AoC is frankly amazing, and incredibly fun, but the community is what destroys it for me. I do not know why those people went to that game, or why they are so horrible, but they did. I do not think the community will be that horrible in The Secret World. We will see. "Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true — you know it, and they know it." —Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007 |

I love how the Dragon Model has the Katana in one hand, and the old school looking 1800's pistol in the other. I think it may be the Flintlock pistol, but with an updated (more modern) barrel.

Its a fresh look for art. Its not a fresh look for an MMO til it launches. Not trashing the game, but tired of companies using hype to sell something that no one will be able to judge accurately til 6 months after launch, ya know? I say this as a pre-ordered, collector's edition, closed beta, early starter of AoC. |

Once bitten, twice shy, eh? The concept isn't that bad. The art won't speak for the game. FunCom's modus operandi seems to be "release a horribly buggy game, and then have someone else transfer to the head honcho spot in order to clean it up." AoC, a year and change after its release, is finally turning out to be a decent game. Maybe TSW will be, too... Circa 2012 or 2013. Until it gets glowing reviews and praise from friends, I'll let this one slip into "Won't try it until the free trial" zone. Yes, I am an English Major. |

Hey I completely understand, but you can only blame yourself. Funcom may have been deceptive, and told a hundred lies on what was suppose to be in the game (I mean is there drunken brawling yet!?).
But ultimately it was you who chose to put so much stock in a game, and you were the one pre-ordering without any real information on it.
Its like buying a car, I saw this amazing new car in a catalog just the other day and I thought "man that thing looks like it could drive great". But I didnt go out and order the car right there. I mean the pictures looked great, and the spec's sounded too good to be true, but I didnt rush my choice. I ended up driving it today and it was just ok, it didnt have nearly the power I thought it would, and I ended up just passing it by.
I think people like to go "Well its only a 50 dollar purchase, so dont compare it to a twenty grand car". Well thats just the way our society seems to view things now adays. They take money values like a childs game on a school yard than anything else. Just think resposibly, and if you want to take the risk and deal with the uncertanity than do it, but please dont blame the company for your dissapointment.

hell dhay even aion beta is like that they have 3 gig of download before next beta is it final i doubt it the final product is on release and even then they often add last minute gig of update . aion will pass or die on the next beta. (for me) if its like it was i wont spend a dime on that when i can get f2p like the chronical of spellborn, rune of magic and all the other games coming ,next year ill probably do like most of the rest ill probably go level one toon to 80 in cataclysm |

VERY NICE art work! Awesome environment and character designs. And the 2 screen shots aren't bad either, like the graphics. If the game turns out half as nice looking as this concept art, it will look simply amazing. But it's still VERY little to go on. Especially after so long since this game was first announced. I hope they are really allot farther along then this with the design and are still just teasing us. And I REALLY hope to be surprised with a game play trailer very soon. Otherwise I'm gonna go crazy! ;P |

-Jive Yes and no. Yes ultimately my fault, however you can't discount the deliberate attempt to generate hype to drive sales. I mean someone stick their foot in front of me to trip me, ya, my fault for not looking, but the guy who stuck his foot out isn't blameless either. My post wasn't an attempt to blame FC as much as a helpful tip, to tell other people don't be as stupid as I've been. Now I'll discuss a game pre launch to say what I like or don't like about the info released but I won't say a game IS good or bad til I've played it. And for me that'll be 6 months after launch with a free trial! ;)

from the post here and on other boards and beeing a conan player myselve i have a suggestion ;) maybe Funcom should stop making mmos and just sell art the teaser videos (as well as the concept and ingame art) are awesome and if they just produced sw as a cgi movie they could sell blu-rays of it for around $25 to a wider audience then theyll get with an mmo these days without the hassle of worrieing about missing endgame content, imba classes, raging funcom haters ... if your bored, visit my blog at: |

People, you do realize that this is a DIFFERENT team? Funcom is a publisher with more then one team working in it. The Goat is GONE, the man behind AO and AoC is no more. The pedigree of Ragnar is The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. Both execellent Funcom products. So lets give this guy a break and give him an opportunity to prove himself. You have to give Funcom credit, they never pulled the plug on AO (unlike turbine/SOE). Maybe 3rd time is a charm? Lets face it. TSW is about the best bet for a western horror MMO set in modern times. It is also about the only game that might just aim for a more adult audience. |

another tip of the hat here for ragnar tornquist.
he wrote ao's amazing story, all their best quests, the longest journey, and dreamfall. this man has yet to dissappoint.
ive been following this project for a long time now. ive followed his blog for the better part of 6 years and hes wanted to get this mmo off of the ground for a very long time. its awesome to see production ramping up. this game is going to be full of pure win. |
